The Mandalorian (TV series)

So if this baby is 50 years old...could it be a clone of Yoda from the time of the Clone Wars; created by the cloners and now one is the lost assets of a crumbling Empire?

50yrs old, would still put in the time frame of yaddle being alive in ep1. Maybe yoda and yaddle knocked the Jedi boots and it’s their offspring

God I hope not...

Yea, I figure it's more that it's a regular member of the species (which seem very rare), that they want to capture and clone.

I guess the question is, if the baby is just a regular member of the species, why does someone want him/her either a.) captured for cloning; or b.) dead?

Not saying they have to have a high midichlorian count (and frankly, it would be really lame if they were just a reincarnation - either literally or figuratively - of Yoda), but there has to be something special about this baby that makes them "bounty-worthy".

I am about to subscribe to Disney+. I currently do not have Hulu, is it better to get the bundle? I do want to see The Orville when it starts back up, but I am seeing that the bundle Hulu ad-supported. I'm assuming that means commercials. I'd rather not have that. However I am noticing that on the Roku channel, the commercials are only 30 seconds or so, not the standard 4 or 5 minutes like broadcast tv. Are Hulu commercials short like that?

Is it better to just get Hulu on it's own and Disney on it's own?

I've noticed that VuDu has the first two seasons of The Orville (which I already own). Does anyone know if Hulu originals end up on Vudu after the season is over? I really don't want to subscribe to Hulu just for one show. And I don't give a crap about ESPN.

If I just get Disney+ do you have the option to add Hulu later?

One last question, are most of you doing a monthly subscription or going for the yearly? It seems cheaper.

It looks nothing like her though, beyond also being a human female.

I’m not seeing the in-joke on this one.

I agree. I never would have thought “Hey, that’s Kathleen Kennedy!” I’m just saying that if that woman is some kind of Easter egg, KK is as good a guess as any. That seems like the kind of cameo they’d drop in there.

If that woman is supposed to be someone else that we should know (besides KK), I am missing it, too.

Honestly, I thought the shot was just a nod to the fact that Mando doesn’t discriminate based on gender. He’ll hunt and carbon-freeze women just the same as men.

Congratulations Luke! The last I saw you were going for pre wedding counseling so now with you referencing your wife I take it you got married. I'm very happy for you and your new bride buddy. That's truly wonderful!

Sorry for the derail. I'm glad everyone seems to be enjoying the show. : )

I thought it was alright. Not bad, not great. Just decent. Definitely the best from Disney so far which is not that much of a compliment. We'll see where it goes.

The part I genuinely liked was the shootout alongside IG-11. That felt like vintage Star Wars to me. The banter between them was fun.

Nice to see Carl Weathers again too.

The pacing was a little fast. The story structure felt like a AAA video game. It opens with a quick action scene. Then some mission briefing exposition. An armor upgrade. More mission briefing. A training sequence learning how to ride those Blurrgs. Then onto mission. They should've made at least the first episode longer. Some more time spent world building would have been nice. I know we're all familiar with the Star Wars universe but it's still good to take some time to re-acquaint us with the state of things like harrisonp was saying.

One complaint I had was I wish they would've named the planets they were on (unless they did and I just missed it then never mind). For instance, the planet where Mando gets his bounty jobs, was that Tatooine?

Edit: I forgot to mention the music. I kind of liked it actually. The piece when they're riding on the blurrgs had sort of a safari feel to it. Makes sense, he's a bounty hunter. He's on the hunt. It's something different. I don't know that a grand fanfare or "march" arrangement would work as well.

Also I liked the end credits montage. Had a McQuarrie feel to it.

My wife and I loved the first episode. Can't wait to see where it goes!
Congrats, bro!!!

Regarding Carbonite Chick, if it's an easter egg, my inclination is to look EU before looking real-world. It's a few years too late for it to match the EU timeline, but none of that is fixed in stone currently, so it might even be Sintas Vel. *shrug* Depends on whether all of those were one bounty or just several, with a few others mixed in that needed delivery elsewhere.

From as much as he's in the trailer and promo stuff, I'm hoping we see more of IG than this first episode.

I'm right there with some other people I've seen wondering what' sup with that random helmet montage at the beginning.

The music was also a bit of a miss for me. There were too many instances where I didn't know for a second whether I was listening to score or noise in the setting.

I really really hope they do manage to break tradition and have a planet or two with a varied eco-system instead of a planet of nothing but desert, a planet of nothing but ice, a planet of nothing but water, etc...

I know it breaks a long standing trope with Star Wars planets, but the more they keep doing it the more ridiculous it seems.

...the planet where Mando gets his bounty jobs, was that Tatooine?

It was established in the EU, specifically, Chewbacca’s Activity Book, that 89% of all habitable planets in the “Star Wars” galaxy are Class-D (Dirt Planets)...
