The Mandalorian (TV series)

Probably because that was as good as they could get it with the time and money allotted. As fancy and as good as the show looks, it's still a TV show and they have a lot less time and money when compared to a big budget movie, and even then they run up against time restraints and budget. You have to remember, it's not as simple as just pressing a button or few clicks of the mouse or the keyboard. There's a lot that goes into this and the effects house almost certainly did the best they could in the time allotted to them. After a certain you just have to say, it's good enough and we don't have the time for one more pass and/or we can't afford the extra OT.

Another thing to consider is that this tech is still fairly new, remember when CG first started taking off, how long it took for TV show CG effects to catch up to movie CG effects? The fact that they can do this on a TV budget and schedule is kind of amazing in and of itself. Give it a few years and this effect will look as a good as it does in Marvel movies for both lower budget movies and TV shows, the tech is just too new for that right now.
The alternative and IMO better solution is right after my quoted sentence.

Ok so maybe someone could shed some light on whether any of this makes sense or they finally did bad writing here...

So Ahsoka blantanly says she can't train him because his attachment is so strong. Moff even says it.

But Luke is ok to take him??!

I...just..what?

Also, Sabine just handed over the Dark Saber to Bo and she took it. Now she can't take it anymore? Filoni, wtf.

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

I guess I deserve it.

I also, honestly don't understand the fascination with Luke. There are much cooler jedi to me.

After Ahsoka said that, Grogu used the mystic Jedi space phone stone to connect with other Jedi. Clearly Luke was the one that connected back. The entire time Luke appeared in the episode, you could see Grogu react and sense him - touching the security monitor etc. The Jedi bond that was stronger that Mando's attachment

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . . :D

Have to say i loved it. I don't care what anyone says, i Loved Luke! To me that was Favreau saying 'THIS is Luke, you @#$%#*es' - not that bastardization shown in E8. I was hoping for Kyle, but i flipped when I saw the xwing. I don't think anyone has to worry about Luke dominating squat. The effect was pretty damn good for TV. As noted, this isn't 250M budget movie, it was maybe a 5-10M budget episode and they had a fraction of the time to do it as a full feature. Cost combined with outcome means you might get one more appearance if/when Grogu leaves the school, but that's about it. You're more likely to get a 'Master Skywalker asked me to bring him back to you...' from some unknown student.

As for Grogu going with him. I'm surprised how many people think it means 1.) he's gone for good, and 2.) he dies when the temple is destroyed. I mean, come on, it doesn't happen for what? 10-12 years in the timeline? Who says Grogu stays the whole time. Luke says he's a danger until he learns to control his powers. Maybe he gets a handle on it and leaves. Maybe Din's called to the training ground for something and Grogu says 'i'm out'. Lots can happen. As for the knob...i think we'll see that go back to him next season. He'll be sitting around someone where looking at the knob and it'll get yanked out of his hand. Plus, as noted, I'd wager Grogu counts for about 75% of the show's licensing/sales as well. You don't write out the golden goose.

I like the cross over with the Tie's being released and the BSG launch tube look. Surprised no one mentioned that that launch sequence seemed to come largely from the Tie-Fighter game - at least as I recall (been a while).

Thank you Jon Favreau. If that's the last we ever see of Luke, I can rest much easier knowing he went out the total badass we knew he was.

To be honest, I couldn't allow myself to accept that it really was Like until I saw the gloved hand. Up until that point I was afraid it may be some kind of misdirection.

It took balls of Beskar to make this decision, because if you bring back Luke you know you better do it RIGHT.

I can only imagine the story discussions with some members of the team, deciding who the Jedi should be that shows up..."Ezra?" "Mace?"

Favreau: "Nah. Imma do Luke."

Best piece of Star Wars l have watched since 1983, although R1 comes close.

I teared up, I was shaking, guessed it was Luke, but to see R2 show up aswell set me right off.

And the same that we lost the original Fett in Jeremy,he takes his place on the throne.

A fitting, if unplanned tribute to him.

Someone correct me on this. But they have Luke wearing a black cloak in this episode. Yet in ROTJ his cloak is a dark brown is it not?

Love that Bib Fortuna had that spiral staff the Kenner figure had, don’t recall actually seeing that in ROTJ.

And again I’m gonna call it, the Book of Boba Fett will be a show within the show, little anthology shorts at the end of each Mando episode.

In a short story in the anthology "Tales from Jabba's Palace", Bib Fortuna survives the sail barge ... only to be taken by the B'omarr monks (the brain-in-a-jar spider droids, who the palace actually belongs to) and have his brain put in one of those jars. In another novel, he manages to have his brain transferred to another criminal's body ... and take over that criminal's organisation.
Either story (canon or EU), he is a head of a criminal organisation at the end. Only the body differs.

So the only thing that matters to you is that Luke is a badass???

If so. All I can say is..... Wow. You've totally missed the point of, like, all of Star Wars....... You are basically Luke of ESB, looking for a "great warrior."
"Mmm. Wars not make one great."

"Excitement. Ha! Adventure. Ha! A Jedi craves not these things."

You miss the point per usual. It's hyperbole more than anything else. It's not that Luke has to be a kick ass warrior at all. It's Luke doing what's RIGHT. no equivocation or other BS they dumped on us in TLJ. Luke got a call that someone with force ability send out a help signal (for lack of a better term) and his response was to get out there, find him, and help him. Not turn his back and say 'screw that guy, he's on his own'.

Luke might give up on himself at some point, but he would never gives up on others.
