I would certainly think so. Mandalorian trailer lists the 12th as when the show comes out; and I haven't heard of a streaming service with any sort of "cooling off" period where you can't watch the same day you sign up or anything.

Awesome

In the original EU it was common for people in the far Outer Rim to still be using Battledroids. As for the voice, they REALLY screwed up when they made the AOTC/ROTS Battledroids have that stupid high pitched voice. They turned them into comic relief.

It was also common for the EU after market battle droids to have their voices modified to be more frightening, or disabled all together

Remember recently when there were hints of a stand alone Boba Fett movie, there was talk of a Fett doplleganger in ROTJ? I.e. the Fett that flew into the Sarlac wasn’t the ESB Fett at all; he had set up a decoy on Tatooine while he was off on another hunt? I wonder if there is the idea that The Mandalorian is the ACTUAL ESB Fett. It would be cool either way, but there seem to be hints in the trailers that it is him...

I agree. The potential of this series lies with the fact that there are no preexisting characters or storyline they are drawing from (that we know of) so that it could really go any direction.

No.

Just no.

My largest problem with the prequels (and there were plenty), was that George took a vast universe and made it into a game of "6 degrees of C-3PO and R2D2".

Rey doesn't need to be Luke's kid.

Finn doesn't need to be Lando's kid.

The Mandalorian doesn't need to be Boba Fett.

The SW universe is HUGE and one of the many reasons I loved the old EU was because it was allowed to be HUGE. There were whole series that never touched on Luke, Leia or Han, and that was great!

Let Star Wars be huge, folks... it's a big, gorgeous universe with tons of room for new characters for us to love.

Where was that said?! I never heard that before and find it interesting

I've never really seen it either. I assume it was groundless speculation by people trying to figure out what time period the afore mentioned "boba Fett movie" might have been set in. I'm sure one of the hair brained theories hatched by the fett fanboys was that they would retcon it so boba Fett didn't really get punked by Han or go into the sarlacc pit.

Aaah gotcha

I have a hard time believing they would shoehorn Fett back into this. And I think it was stated in the Clone Wars that Jango was not Mandalorian at all but was just using their armour.

I still don't think that should be taken literally and all the convolutions to explain it from sources other than Dave Filoni are so much unnecessary brain-sweat to explain why the pacifist New Mandalorians might possibly disavow/disown a Mandalorian who followed their old warrior ways. *shrug*

That said, I'm positive it's not Boba. Daniel Logan's grown up pretty well, and would suit reprising the role nicely, just as he has providing Boba's voice. They could easily have cast him, and didn't. Ergo.

Here here. Totally agree. [emoji1360]

I think many will be amazed when they get a great new story with new characters getting away from the old characters which have been used time and time again.

Broaden your mind people.

When there were whisperings of Fett and Kenobi stand alone films, I was all for a Joe Johnston directed Fett flick. After all, he helped create the character, and he directed The Rocketeer and Captain America: the First Avenger. We now know that Disney went the TV route with both characters, and I think Disney was wise to do so with this TYPE of character (a bounty hunter who wears Fett like armor, flies a Fett like ship, uses a Fett firearm, and does other Fett like things). Rather than a 2 hour stand alone cinematic experience (especially after the disappointing box office for Solo).

Let's face it. Ultimately, "The Mandalorian" IS Boba Fett, whether he is the actual same in-universe character or not. He's basically a stand-in for the Fett we never got after TESB. It may as well be the same guy... which is fine by me :)

From what I have seen on TCW and Rebels Mandalorian Armor is fairly similar. I mean different individuals and clans have color schemes and some modifications but for the most part it is usually easy to pick out a Mandalorian in a crowd.

Of course this guy will be Fett's uncle's, cousins college roommate.

More than hints

When I first saw that TCW episode my nephew, who was young at the time and loves Jango, asked about that and I thought the same thing. Maybe the pacifists don't want to acknowledge Jango being one of them because he goes against their ideology. That would actually make more sense. I also hope they follow the Mandalorians, at least in this way, from the RC novels where Mandalorians are a culture rather than by where they live, and can adopt anyone into their culture and they become Mandalorians. That's a lot more interesting, IMO anyway.
