The Definitive Captain America "Avengers" Costume Thread

Clever idea with the magnets, but I think for the sake of an "active" costume (e.g. running, jumping, mock-battle) having the metal pieces actually sewn in. I just looked closer at the ref image of the shoulder, but I'm lost on how they keep either the star or the shoulder pieces attached.

Hi everybody,

I was looking throught the forum but I did not found that information.
What are the proportions for the drawing ?

Are the stripes 25% wide of half of the shield diameter ?
As the shield is not flat, mesurement based ona picture from google don"t give exact results.

Thx for your help.

I am guessing you're talking about the shield, which I was really interested in as well.

Chris Fields does some really phenomenal shield making, this is his thread on his work: Captain America Shield

Hope that helps!

So, is the star on the new shield engraved on or is it a seperate piece like TFA?

While the serious builders may seek out a more screen-accurate fabric, those who want to try this costume on a budget should check out the C9 longsleeve Tech Tee in blue, sold at Target (Target:C9 by Champion® Men's Long-Sleeve Tech Tee - ...).

The photo doesn't quite do it justice -- it has a very good shade of blue, between royal and navy. The whole shirt has a nice pattern/texture to it.

The only real drawback is that it's a bit thin (it's not a compression shirt or a thermal) but if you were on a deadline or budget, I think this would work fine (you could just wear something else underneath, for thickness).

They also sell it in red, grey, and white (in both long and short sleeve), so you could also source several of these shirts as fabric for pretty cheap (long sleeve is $12, short sleeve is $10).

I love the design of the costume but his face looks weird in it if you look at him without it and then in it.

The costume looks better than TFA, more in line with the more "recognized" Cap costume, but I am still not buying Evans as Cap. He does look thinner, and he does NOT have the jaw line for the helmet. He's got too much of a baby face. Need more of a bigger actor and an actor with a squarer jaw...someone more in line with the way Thor looks.
The costume: Lose those silly silver accents on the shoulders and that damn zipper on the abdomen! Have the white go all around the mid arm, like in the comics, that would accentuate his biceps/tricep area, and essentially make him look a bit bigger.

Those parts are most likely attached using rivets or maybe even short screws, or at a push you could use snaps?

My guess is they're actually urethane pieces, not real metal. Easiest method of attachment is a gel-based superglue, but I think the shoulder stripes are actually attached to shoulder pads underneath the fabric too. My personal theory, no evidence to back anything up. lol

Does anyone have any sort of pattern that they'll be using to make this, or are you just going to make it from scratch?

I made my TFA costume without a pattern, and while it looked great for what it was, I could have done much better with something to go off.

Has anyone found any more "found" accesories. I want to take a crack at this for the premier next year. I'm thinking the gloves may also be Oakley but I can't find anything witha similar pattern/ color scheme.

They are more than likely custom, your best bet is to commission them / make them yourself ...... I've searched and searched and could not find anything with that color scheme
