The Definitive Captain America "Avengers" Costume Thread

While the serious builders may seek out a more screen-accurate fabric, those who want to try this costume on a budget should check out the C9 longsleeve Tech Tee in blue, sold at Target (Target:C9 by Champion® Men's Long-Sleeve Tech Tee - ...).

The photo doesn't quite do it justice -- it has a very good shade of blue, between royal and navy. The whole shirt has a nice pattern/texture to it.

The only real drawback is that it's a bit thin (it's not a compression shirt or a thermal) but if you were on a deadline or budget, I think this would work fine (you could just wear something else underneath, for thickness).

They also sell it in red, grey, and white (in both long and short sleeve), so you could also source several of these shirts as fabric for pretty cheap (long sleeve is $12, short sleeve is $10).

I went this route for halloween except I used a base white and canabalized a blue then overlayed it for the top part

Hey everyone great thread and awesome work!! Just some helpful notes.. I can let you guys know with 100% certainty the fabric is indeed custom screen printed. His belt buckle was custom made and for the shoulder metal stripes callmemilo was correct, they are urethane casted to fabric so they can be stitched down. I didn't work on the costume but i did work on a part of it so i know a lot about it just not everything! Good luck with your build out there guys!

Hey all, I don't suppose anyone knows any good people to commission this?
Looking to commission the boots and the gloves so far as don't think I'll have the time to do the suit AND the extras in the time schedule I have!

Thread ressurection!

Anyone source or make any of the buckles, shoulder metal, elasctics that attach the boot armor or the clips?

i will commission the chest's star, the grades and the belt buckle to a designer, that will create a plaster mold to cast them in resin

I'm gonna be starting a build myself soon, I've gone with mock eylet fabric which is the kind of stuff sports shirts are made from

Royal Blue 4300

You can get it for around £3 per metre in the uk, its not perfect but I think it has a good enough texture. I'm going to try to make it as accurate as possible but I may have to make a few shortcuts for the sake of cost!

I've already started a pepakura foam shield build, just waiting for more foam to arrive so I can do the outer ring, I may start all over again using this as a prototype and try to get it cleaner.

Hello fellow Captains, I'm new here. Can anyone give me the specs for the TFA helmet and shield? I am 5'6" tall, so I don't want to make the shield too round.

My kid has Avengers pajamas and in the picture cap is wearing the "uncovered ears" cowl that's in the case he checks it out in in out in the movie. It looks SO much better.

So, I have two questions for people with better eyes for details than I do. Are we sure the "zippers" on Cap's thighs are really zippers and not piping as they appear to be on his Hot Toys sculpt? My other question is how did they turn Oakley Assaults into his boots? Looking at the black areas at the heel and toe of the boots, they aren't the same shape as the heel and toe of an Assault, not to mention how the Oakleys have a smooth glossy finish, while the heel and toe of Cap's boots are textured. How did they simulate that effect? And were the red parts covers or an actual boot with the Assault soles attatched?

Just wondering for when I attempt to make my own. Thanks, guys. :)

Hello!
First of all, thanks to all who searched for materials, founded and posted pictures of the costume, it was a great help for My search in order to make it.
I want to contribute to the thread with this gloves I found searching on internet, they seems pretty similar, the only problem is that they are available only in black, which is a problem but with some adjustment they will look good I think, anyway here the link: Damascus DCRT300 CRT-300 Vector 3? A little late in response.

The zippers are definitely zippers and I have a ton of high res images where you can clearly see them. Look at the actual images, not at someone else's interpretation. Unless you're trying to replicate the interpretation and not the original.

When I did the boots, I made toppers for the Oakleys and then boot armor on top of that. The textured area I did by masking off the toe and heel and hitting it with truck bed liner.
