The 89 MattMobile Build Thread.

I've said it earlier in this thread, but aparently it needs repeating: nobody will drive the car except me. And after reading chevyhotrods posts, I'm more convinced of that than ever!!! :lol

Uhhhm you will let my kids ride shotgun though if we ever get out that way? I'll pay for the gas. :)

Really exciting news right now. It looks like I have found a shipper who will bring the shell to my front door, including all the parts, for about 1,500 bucks LESS than if I go get it myself. I don't have a deal locked in yet, but it's looking very promising. I'm REALLY pretty darn stoked at this news!

Matt, time to install biometric ignition and locks...

Absolutely. Already in my plan. I'm also going to have a few hidden dead man switches that will totally disconnect the ignition. It won't stop someone with a tow truck, but I'm working on countermeasures for that too :D

Hydraulic drop downs. I repo'd a car that had that once. We had to get a flat bed in addition to the regular wheel lift to get it.

Man, I owe my neighbor a beer. Based on a suggestion of his, I'm getting the shell shipped for about what it would have cost me IN GAS to get it out here myself. On top of that would have been the truck rental, airplane ticket, food, and the cost of all the sheer agony I would have had to endure driving across country. A couple thousand bucks saved here, folks.

Just goes to show that a little research, patience, and persistence really pays off.

He saved you a couple thousand and you're only gonna get him a beer? Man, if it were me, it'd be a beer plus dinner at Ruth's Chris at least!:lol

Seriously, though thats pretty cool. I've been following this since day 1, so I cant wait to see the result.

Shotgun, yes. Driving... no :p

Thankee sir. I have 7 kids, 3 girls, 18, 17 and 14, 4 boys the oldest boy is almost 16, almost 11 twins and 9. However my oldest son is an absolute car fanatic, he draws pictures of cars, he has 100's of pics of them on his profile on the computer. If we ever got out your way, and he go to ride with you, I don't think he'd stop talking about it for months :)

Fantastic.

Matt, just a quick stop over CLTC to the RPF to say "Keep up the good work"
Best regards

Thanks man! I appreciate it :)

Latest news is that it looks like the shell will be picked up THIS week, with delivery to my house sometime next week. I'm kind of overwhelmed! it's finally REALLY happening!!!!! lol.

Granted, it's really only been a year since I first started this project, but getting the shell on hand is kind of confirmation that it's real!! lol. I can't wait!!!
