The 89 MattMobile Build Thread.

I try SO hard to wear safety glasses ALL the time when working in the shop.

in the past two weeks, I've come really close to some serious eye injuries. I was filing some aluminum on R2, and went to blow away the dust. Of course, it was in a recess, and all the aluminum dust went STRAIGHT into my eye. It took the better part of a day to get the last piece out, and I was in quite a bit of pain for the most of it.

A couple of days ago, I was pouring some resin. I had my face in close so i could find bubbles, and was tapping the side of the mold. two little tiny drops popped straight into my left eye. i RAN into the bathroom and ran water straight into my eye for about five minutes straight. Had I been wearing eye protection, none of that would have happened.

I cannot tell you the number of times a dremel cut off wheel has snapped but missed my face. Those things are like flying guillotines!!

So yeah, be careful folks.

I know what you mean, those flying pieces from a Dremel cut-off wheel make you think ! I have a flip down face shield and/or a nice set of safety glasses I use dilligently. I also use a repirator when needed since I do alot of sanding on resin, bondo, and mdf.

Cool installment. And the random Laam sighting is pretty funny, too.

Matt, all the talk of safety glasses reminds me of Norm Abram from The New Yankee Workshop.

"And remember this: there is no more important safety rule than to wear these — safety glasses."

;)

I thought the same thing about Norm. :lol

Matt...any updates on the foot from the doctor? And what color is it now?

Thanks for asking sir!! The foot is at about 90% right now. Only a tiny bit of pain when I crunch my toes. Maybe they read the xray wrong, because it sure doesn't feel all that bad.

Hopefully I'll have some news on the shell within a day or two. In the mean time, I'm working on my Arkham Asylum grapple gun build.

Matt, Glad to hear your foot is much better than first diagnosed. Possibly hairline fractures? Can't wait to hear and see more on the Mattmobile but am also following your grapple gun build over on the BOTB, can't wait to see more on that also. Great work so far...

What's a MattMobile?

It's a way of life.

Speaking of which, i am still in a holding pattern on the shell. Its many months late at this point, though i am optimistic of a delivery within a few weeks. We shall see.

In the mean time, ive been keeping busy with the grapple gun,R2, and the calendar.

any update matt?

Nothing really. In the past 2 months, I've gotten the seats, one set of tail lights, the rear turbine, and a few other pieces. I'm really just waiting for the body shell to arrive now. Pretty much everything depends on that getting here so I can get back to work.

You know, Matt..... if you gathered all those body parts together that are lying around your garage, I reckon you'd pretty much get a '95 Caprice out of them if you assembled them all. I know, I know......It's like a sixth sense that I have......pretty spooky, huh? :behave

Ha, I thought those were those things YOU lie on under the car and couldn't figure out why you'd got four of them. Then it slowly dawned on me what they actually are. Can those wee wheels really support that much weight?

P.S. I hope your garage floor isn't on a slant.
