The 89 MattMobile Build Thread.

yes, green = bad. I agree :) I'm going to see a specialist next week, so hopefully he'll have some insight. Hopefully before my foot falls off.
Is it just a bruise changing color? If so, probably not that bad. If it's some sort of cut or wound that's turning green, well then that deserves a trip to the ED.

Yeah, it's just the bruise changing color. I actually have seen it before, on myself :) Just being dramatic :)

I keep taking pics of my foot, but it looks SO much less spectacular in pics than in person. I fear that if I post them, it'll just be a let down :lol The color differences are really subtle in the pics, but when compared to my non-wrecked foot in real life, the difference is stunning. The swelling has gone down A TON now, so it's almost looking like a normal foot now. Not a poorly sculpted prosthetic.

Yeah, it's just the bruise changing color.

I know exactly what you mean. ;)

I got hit on the upper inner thigh by a lacrosse ball when I was in high school. Thankfully, it didn't hit anything...um...important :confused, because I wasn't wearing a cup at the time (on the sidelines in street clothes with an injury). Anyway, that bruise turned all sorts of interesting colors...and lasted about a month. :rolleyes

I've had some pretty ugly colors come from bruises playing paintball. The green color usually comes after swelling and inflamation subsides, which sounds about right from your posts. Once again I hope it heals quickly because I don't want any excuses once that shell gets there !! :lol

My bruises turned many many colors after the quad crash 2 years ago

The one on my hip got huge and turned yellow, pink, blue, purple, black, and even green.
what the pic doesn't show is the broken ribs and the punctured lung.
I'd trade those for bruises any day.

well, after seeing that pic Nate, I definitely feel a lot better about my meager injuries! I hope you at least had a great time earning those battle wounds! ouch!

Don't you hate it when those stupid buildings just out in front of you, LOL... Slave1pilot, if you're physically still able too, don't give up on quads, just be a little safer. You'll be glad you did, Best of luck to you. MattMunson, I trully hope your injury is superficial and your on a quick road to recovery. I think you'd go crazy mad seeing you batmobile shell sitting there and you can't do anything with it until you've recovered. Nevermind the rest of us wait waiting for your build as you are the most integrall part of any of your projects. Quick healing to you..

Larry.

I agree. Quick recovery there Matt! I know the struggle. I can help out if you like...I'll make up a 89 steel dash top for ya for free if you cover the shipping:)

(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

What an offer! I love that the members here want to do everything they can to see a project this cool completed when one comes up.

Here's a photo of my 89 steel dash top Matt. Now if you want one I can easily modify it for ya..ie not as deep or thinner etc. Rear lip makes for a nice attachment flange and rolled front lip gives a finished edge and mimics orginal. Cover with vinyl or paint and you're good to go:)

Matt,

Hope your foot feels better!

I have a question: are you in possession of a Time Turner, TARDIS, BTTF Delorean, or just able to shift through time? Dude, when do you find time to work, sleep, and do "other things"? Just reading your exploits of a few days makes me feel like I've run a marathon!

Ok, a nap for me and back to 10,000 things for you!

Don, that dash looks insane, and I will for sure be taking you up on your offer. I'm thinking of breaking my other foot next. What's in it for me then???? :D

WarPig, no real secret, just effective time management. I get up at about 5:30 almost every day, and try to watch as little TV as possible. You'd be STUNNED at how much stuff you can get done if you don't lose four hours a day to TV watching, which is what the average american does.

Still, thanks for the kind words :) One of the things that really keeps me going is the thought of just how long it's taken me to get to this point with the car. I've been saving for years to buy a house so I could have a garage to build this thing in. I guess nowt that it's finally ALL come together, I don't want to waste time.

Though I fully expect lulls in the build. I'm sure I will lose motivation at some times, or have other things get in the way. We shall see.

I try SO hard to wear safety glasses ALL the time when working in the shop.

in the past two weeks, I've come really close to some serious eye injuries. I was filing some aluminum on R2, and went to blow away the dust. Of course, it was in a recess, and all the aluminum dust went STRAIGHT into my eye. It took the better part of a day to get the last piece out, and I was in quite a bit of pain for the most of it.

A couple of days ago, I was pouring some resin. I had my face in close so i could find bubbles, and was tapping the side of the mold. two little tiny drops popped straight into my left eye. i RAN into the bathroom and ran water straight into my eye for about five minutes straight. Had I been wearing eye protection, none of that would have happened.

I cannot tell you the number of times a dremel cut off wheel has snapped but missed my face. Those things are like flying guillotines!!

So yeah, be careful folks.

Matt, I'm really enjoying this thread and follow it every day.

Let me tell you a little story that might remind you to wear those glasses. A few years a tiny little piece of metal snapped off the tip of a chisel I was using. It was kind of the size and shape of a fishing hook barb. It pierced my left eye, right at the edge of the pupil, and ended up settling right inside my eyeball. They had to pop the eyeball out, cut a door in the bottom/back, and fish it out with a magnet. Luckily I was under a general anesthetic, cos I don't think I would've wanted to see what was going on there.

Amazingly, after months of pain, my eyesight was unaffected. I was extremely lucky, but I learned a very valuable lesson. I wear safety glasses even for changing ceiling light bulbs now, ha.
