I've been watching this thread since day one and have said squat, now I'm going to and will probably get a few death threats! :lol
I was around ten or eleven when the Turtles first came about and, admittedly,I was sucked into the craze of a bunch of.....mutated....teenage.....ninja......turtles.
Now think about that for a second, about all the franchise is is somebody built on the ninja craze of the 80's (seriously those dudes were EVERYWHERE) and some of the sci-fi shtick that was popular like The Toxic Avenger,CHUD,and what not-hell there was an underground comic about mutated kangaroos!
So flash forward to now and I look back on the TMNT and wonder just how and why I watched such drek? almost all the kids shows I watched that was American was aimed at making you buy something and that was about it.
Of the few that didn't do this I can only think of The Real Ghostbusters, which more-or-less just picked up from the film and made it (somewhat) more kid friendly, though there was some twisted and unnerving things for a kid in the content.
But for the show at hand I cannot see making TMNT anything more then a fun flick, complaining about the changes I can get if you're a fan but...sorry this is like saying they're taking one and half brain cells from something that has three.....
Also the first live action film was the best,it was pretty close to the cartoon and I doubt you could do more with it-the only reason we have this new film is someone sees $$$$ and is making it up new for the next generation who are, really sorry, more brain dead then the one I grew up with in the 80's
From what I've read the comic TMNT was better then the cartoon and unfortunately all the films draw from the cartoon,IF they use the original comic it may be more fun, campy, but fun.
