I’m slowly starting to put together a decent Wolverine costume and decided for my first post, I want to talk about his dog tags.
Throughout the movies, Logan wears three different styles of tags, all of which have been discussed on this site before. Canadian style, American style, and the Weapon X issued tags. For my costume I’ve decided to riff off of the Canadian tags and the Weapon X issued ones.
On top, I used the ID number that is on all three styles of film tags. On line two, I decided to go with his code name instead of James Howlett or Logan. Line three is his mutant classification, and line four denotes his nationality and involvement with the Weapon X program.
This design follows actual Canadian tags much closer than the ones he wears in X1 and X2. I decided to keep the mirrored look on the bottom tag as this does actually show up on some historical tags (https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/primarysources/memory-project-9840).
For wear, I plan on breaking them as if he’d been thought dead at one point but recovered his bottom tag. They’ll then be worn in the same setup as American tags with the bottom piece suspended on a second chain.
I’m also considering having a set of WW1/2 style tags made and putting them on the chain as well. Canadian WW2 & WW1 ID Dog Tags Stamped Is the only site I’ve found selling these. For this set of tags, I’d use the name Logan. Does anyone have a reference for what religion could be put on them?
Any feedback would be much appreciated, it will likely be a week or two before I finalize the design and order these.
