because certain people think that to be cool, you have to be dark and gritty. This is why I HATE Heath Ledgers joker. Compared to the vibrant and fun to watch Madman of Mark Hamil (who had a RANGE of emotions)....Heath Ledgers' was just a madman with no range.
Plus, things have been rebooted Ssoooooo many times now, maybe they feel the need they have to be brastically different to stand apart. Hence this annoying new trend of gender and race switching characters.
No, it'll just bring in a whole new audience who love degenerate things. Thugs and howard stern listeners ;o) j/k

Looking at the poster.....I get the feeling that sombody forgot to mention that this Movie was going to be about Turtles instead of Frogs.
