In any event, I will be doing a blue and green blade too, maybe even fitting those in different custom hilts if I hook up with a hilt maker.

These blades are totally removable, they simply plug in to the driver board.  The way I designed them you can change blade colors by plugging in a different colored blade board.  No need to take apart the hilt at all, as the driver board works with any of the blade colors.

I do understand that this is a "show off" thread rather than an "interest" thread, but I'm very interested all the same (as it seems all the posters in this thread are). If you are taking feed back from this thread into consideration, this set up would make a fantastic "blade kit" for modification to MR FX sabers and for our own custom hilts. I would certainly be much more interested in a kit than a finished saber. Just in case you are wondering ;)

great googly-moogly...

You're gonna bankrupt me hyperdyne.

let's see what I have to sell........

Wow, the red blade looks very impressive. Much brighter than the MR FX judging by the comparison shots.

I'd love to see similar shots of a blue blade once you have it ready.

If and when an interest thread happens, I'll be on it.

Regards

Al

i keep thinking they are ready to go.

ARRGH quit bumping this till they are...

JK but seriously i always get let down cause they arent ready. :(

What's up fellas. Sorry to bother you all. Check out this link and the following page of this thread. It details my glorious conversion to this site and more specifically this thread. Thank God I was fortunate enough to stumble across your site. With what little I know about you I already love you hyperdyne, you're doing God's work my friend. You're becoming a legend in more places than you would think. You are widely feared and respected by even novice saber enthusiats. OT. X0.

:eek

Wowsers... I want a kit, baby... GREEN....

I want to be first on the list when the time comes. I called dibs on spot #1.... :p

Oh. I actually have a question... if/when you make these will you make them slimmer than the FX blades? You know, for those of us who may want to replace old EL blades...?

Hey Wedge,

Thanks, not sure what the thread was about, it doesnt seem to exist anymore. I dont think I'm doing God's work by any stretch, just trying to make something cool. :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence too, and BTW welcome to the RPF.

DL, you should be able to convert a graflex with this. I need to work out the details and all. I have an old EL graflex I have been wanting to convert.

Roman, the kit will fit into a 0.5" ID blade, so it can be retrofitted into any type saber. The only thing there is getting enough diffusion with a really thin blade. That might take a sandblasted or frosted blade assembly. So the short answer is "yes with a little work". :) I hope to get a blue and green blade done soon.

I havent played with any other FX sabers.  All the ones I have are defective in one way or another.  :thumbsdown.  The Vader ANH I have also has the defective sound bug, even after exchanging it 3 times.  I bought a mace saber and it looks like the blade is tye dyed.  :confused

I just watched the teaser...DAAAAAAAAAAAMN.....dude, that is blinding. This is a freakin' coup in tha realm of sabers.
I know this isn't an interest thread...BUT I"M IN.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.

I actually performed the first blade durability test - the blade was hit against a hard object multiple times. Everything passed, blade in tact. On to the next phase.... :)

I am also testing out the sound board proto today.

You know, the 'interest thread' will just be a formality. We ALL want one.

Please tell me I'll be able to retrofit my Mace FX though....

I have to take apart a mace and see if the securing block is the same. If not is is still doable, just need to pop the blade in and secure it.

Anyway, the first gen sound board is pretty much finished. I have a working prototype, it works rather well so far, complete with powerup, powerdown, swing, and clash sounds. Not to mention a variable speed vibration motor.

Is the Sound Board separate from the Blade Effects?

I was wondering if I could retrofit the sound into my existing EL saber I made.

Also, how does your blade attach to the hilt? With a 1/4" mono jack?

thanks

FB

The color of Luke's saber is a bit teal/cyan-ish... Can that be done?

Otherwise, my first plan is still to get a blue for my Larbel O. Can't wait to see green and blue.

The sound board is separate. It can either be seamlessly controlled from my blade driver board, or it can be used standalone using 2 pushbuttons (one for up/down sound and one for clash sounds). This low-cost version doesnt have a built in clash sensor, that is slated for version 2. But you can add a simple clash sensor to the board if you wish. The swing sounds are automated via an onboard swing sensor. The board will also mate into your existing battery supply and will accept 5-18V as input.

If you mean Luke's ANH blade, that will be tougher to do with LEDs. You will normally get a deeper blue ala Obi's Ep1-3 saber.

maybe something in the way you frost the blade???

might add a little white with a hint of green???

might make a more ANH-ish effect.

but im sure they are going to eventually make all the blue sabers PT blue anyway...
