Teaser: My new lightsaber "working" blade

I am also extremely interested in ordering one when the time comes. Seems like there will be a LONG waiting list huh?

Not sure yet. Still working on the kit details and/or finished sabers.

Good news is the sound board has been upgraded to include a swing sensor and auto clash sensor. It will also wire into my driver board to do some other cool stuff (to be demoed later).

Was that an answer to this question?

"Also, how does your blade attach to the hilt? With a 1/4" mono jack?"

thanks

FB

yeah if you want to go light blue then it might be better to use a light blue gel with a white core light. The normal blue will give off a nice plasma like blue color.

The blade does not use a 1/4" jack (like EL), instead it uses a DIN connector.

op, yep, just came in my pants

Seriously, you've got something amazing on your hands there. I'd almost suggest selling the technology to MR (however I wouldn't since I think it's great that we have such talented members here and that your own property should stay as such).

I love the new technology blade as much as the next guy but... :lol

Take care of that right away, will ya? It'll get messy the longer you wait. :lol

Get that guy some tissue. :lol

Anyway, more progress news. The bluetooth sound modules are finally complete... I hope to add them to my site soon.

Now I will be able to offer wireless or wired sound in a hilt. These bluetooth sound modules will also interface with my blade driver board so things are synchronized. I've been told these bad boys will also be part of a LFL sanctioned saber "event" with Nick Gillard. :eek

Thanks Jonathan.

BTW, here is a pic of the new bluetooth saber sound modules:

jim did i read that right?

your stuff is going to be used by nick guillard in a lightsaber display???

sweet.

are we any coser to an ETA for these things???

i cant wait.

oldken, yes you did read that right. Cant say too much but its very exciting. :)

I dont have a solid ETA yet, but we are getting closer and closer. We finally got the blade retrofitted into a MR Vader saber. The install turned out to be pretty straight forward.

After the install we were so giddy we also took a video of the first "survival" dueling shock test. Everything went great, so its on to phase 2. ;)

The test video should be up soon, and I can assure you that it will knock the socks off of anyone interested in lighted sabers.. :eek I was there and after viewing the video I still couldnt believe it....

hyperdyne,
THANK YOU...

I've been waiting for lightsabers like this for years. You have made this little girl's dreams come true.

So, if I were to retrofit one of these Hyperdyne blades onto an MR saber, would I lose the internal sound module, and thus also have to install the Hyperdyne one?

Don't get me wrong, I think your module is cool, but I'm a poor college student.

my pleasure ondiv.

jlee, if you retrofitted your MR then you could still have the sound if you rewired up their sound board to the new guts. It would take some small modifications but it could be done...

ok, finally got a video up of our first "shock" blade test. Basically we take the hilt and blade and put it through its first paces to gauge blade durability. Things went very well with only about 50% impact speed. We certainly could of walloped on the blade much more, it is quite sturdy and the design is holding up as expected. So now its on to phase 2, which will test the blade's durability under even more duress. :)

At any rate, hope you enjoy the video.

Video: Red Blade Durability Test #1

BTW you can really get a feel for the amount of light the blade gives off. It is crazy bright.. :eek We still cant believe how much the blade illuminates the surrounding area. Our new blade optics are really working wonders.

Let me know what you think so far...
