yo dudes! my costume is coming along, slowly but surely

all that's left to do with the charms are to put hooks on them and the chain, then whalah! i'm done with that haha
what's great about having these masking tape ones, is that I've dropped these guys a couple times and they just bounce all over the place, no breakage! haha

very interesting material choice
Did you consider oven bake clay like sculpey, or sculpey light? Those can be baked at home. Maybe a thought for the future.

haha yeah i looked into that, and I will possibly do it in the future
but for that moment, sculpting something outta masking tape just seemed like a fun thing to do

Since we're taking this into the Con, I looked for a non-toy sword with a plastic, non-sharp blade. I decided upon an ATA Taekwondo Training sword, adult length. I bought mine on eBay, but you might be able to buy one from a martial-arts supply store. The sword is plastic, with a very thick (i.e., blunt) blade. I cant see Con Security getting excited over it.

What eBay store did you buy your Training sword from? I've been searching the internet trying to find somewhere that sells them, but haven't had any luck.

This might have been answered earlier but I didn't see it:
for Babydolls hair, I looked through the wigs available at Ampigory.com (they carry a couple of different brands and everything I've purchased from them has been a high enough quality for styling) and color #613 is the closest to Babydoll. I technically think her hair is a touch lighter than the 613 but 613 is the lighest I've seen without going to snow white and trying to tint it super light blond. #613 is also available in a bunch of styles and extentions to chose from in order to build the final wig.

I've been working with epilepticsquirl for a couple weeks to get a decal design for my katana. he shipped them off yesterday, so I'll be getting those soon I have also been carving out the hilt/tsuba for the sword lately and I'm hoping, by the end of this week my sword will be completed! woot woot!
one thing I have finished finally are the gun charms. Now, bear with me, I'm a starving college student, so I don't have 50 bucks to blow on some real gun charms off of ebay, though they look awesome. I also don't have an oven hot enough nor the brain capacity to put together my own porcelain charms, so, what do I choose to go with? Masking tape. haha yep, masking tape. So, obviously they're not gonna look exact, but I tried my hardest! I just used masking tape, elmers and super glue, acrylic paint, and finished off with a coat of clear nail polish so here's a pic of my finished product:

They're so cute!! That's pretty awesome that you were able to make something so small out of masking tape, bravo! Also awesome that they're unbreakable - my bunny lost an ear last weekend when I wore my costume lol

Thanks Lando for the link! I'll keep that one in mind although it is pretty pricey! (I didn't technically find it but) there is this website that has a TON of cheaper airsoft guns, so if you're looking for any pistols or rifles for some of your costumes I suggest looking on HobbyTron.com - Remote Control Cars Trucks Boats Nitro Gas Electric - Airsoft Guns, Magic Tricks & Science it's really good and there is a nice replica for Babydoll's gun that is about 18.50 right now!

I've pretty much got Blondie's outfit figured out, except for her shoes. After watching the movie again, I realized that she has (I think) knee high boots with small heels. Anyone find a good match yet? Let me know if you can please!

My boots are pretty much the same except for the heel (which btw is on the brink of becoming unattached from the boot, might wanna go soon to the shoe maker's LOL), if you'd like I can take some pics for you, they're a very dark brown, knee high, kinda long pointed (not much, they're just a size larger than my size, so they look long like hers), right now's kinda late but i'll show you later on today

It wasn't an eBay store but an individual seller, and it appears that I bought the only one he had. At the same time, there was another seller selling the same sword, so you just have to keep your eye open for one. If there are none on eBay, try looking for a martial-arts store on the Net, or check with a local Taekwondo school.

Those were from Entertainment Weekly or maybe Total FILM mag. Can't remember.

That's the highest res I have, but I'm sure someone has better versions out there somewhere.

I finally sat down and watched the Bluray extended version of the movie. The added scene (Love is the Drug?) had a bunch of new costumes! I've seen the concepts in the book, but I didn't know they actually made it to the movie. I really adore these two:

I have Babydoll's white sailor outfit planned. I just bought the wig and have my eye on a pair of shoes (not completely accurate, but they have the right idea). Now to just draw it out...

I remember reading about the dance sequences and was very sad that they cut them out of the movie. I'm really glad they put it back in for the DVD - need to pick up the blu-ray combo! I think eventually I'd like to do a show outfit but that'll be for next year's Dragon*Con or something.

I made the event for Saturday, because that's the first day my daughter (Babydoll) can attend. I (German soldier zombie) will be there both Friday and Saturday.

I'm going to stop by the Security booth on Thursday (when I'm not in costume), with pics of our weapons, to see what will be accepted and what won't.
