Sucker Punch costume thread

Does anyone know how I can roll my hair like Amber? I can't find a good reference photo... the best I could find was the statue.

I'm awful with hair, but I have a lot of it! :p Is there a special hair styling tool I can buy to do it??
All I did when I was at ECCC was put it in a bun, but if I can do a hair roll, that'd be better!

I just don't usually like to waste the money on patterns, But you could start with the school spirit cheerleader pattern for the skirt. And for the top you should be able to find some asian/japanese sailor fuku patterns online that could be modified.

Awesome costume kiki!

Blondie question for everyone. Helping a friend with patterns etc. Has anyone sourced any of the fabrics, particularly the dk grey rubbery bits, on her leotard?

I'm looking to make blondie as well, and although I haven't sourced yet, I was looking at the rubber finish neoprene for those parts. The seaming on there looks like it could be the top bound neoprene strips as well.

That was my guess on how to make those stripes but everytime I look at them I can't see any topstitching so I thought maybe it was some kind of clever pleating or...I don't know lol. Plus when it creates that corner on the back I couldn't really see a seam where the ribbon would have been folded on itself to create the point. But if I do make this costume then that's what I will do.

Also for Sweet Pea (I'm making her costume for myself), I've noticed that most people are getting black pleather or leather for her jacket but looking at the jacket it looks like a deep brown to me that's been weathered. Is it really a faded black? And if it is, does anyone think it may be better to go with a deep brown as opposed to black since brown already has a kind of weathered look compared to black? I don't know if that makes sense lol but hopefully it does to someone.
 
I'm sorry if this question was all ready asked and answered but what fabrics do we think they used for baby Doll? Especially those of you who saw it in person like at the Arclight. Any educated guesses as to what it is? Thanks guys!

I have never had to buy weapons before can you guys recommend that's not to expensive or has good quality? I am specifically looking for baby doll

Mine was 45 pesos. I mean .. 11 dollars aprox. It's not the best, but i'm makin it pretty custom-made, and looking pretty awesome <3

I wanted to do it SO badly, just as the costuem she wears at the first moment she starts with the cabaret fantasy. Also cuz I have bought a longer wig than the one I used, so the shorter one would fit perfectly with the "reality" costumes.
But I think of the shiny tights and askdnsjkdnjsa I don't know how to get them or where to get them.
 
Yeah I wouldn't wanna run into any of the girls from Sucker Punch while cosplaying in my Deadpool costume, it's be hard to hide that bright red circus tent, lmao
 
Hello, joined because of this topic. Just wanted to point out with Rocket's boots, I'm fairly certain (from the photos) that they're cloth, kind of like thigh high converse.

Not at all saying they're converse because the tops aren't the same, but I'm thinking it's along the same line. It looks like the feet are a completely different item, kind of like they'd been modified on completely. Also, I think in color terms with Amber, a dark olive green is what to go for in color choice for cons.
 
I'm new to the board, costuming in general and working on a blondie costume for sdcc, even though our Blondie dropped out after seeing the movie. But Gentle Giant is now working on a Blondie Statue, as well as a Rocket one. I don't know how to actually upload the pictures, but here's the link
