Sucker Punch costume thread

okay so from my flood of emails everyone wants to get the babydoll look! i'll post here so everyone can see but if you have further questions or want makeup advice for the other girls then feel free to inbox me.

BABYDOLL MAKE-UP

watch this tutorial. this is the techniques and method that i use. Sucker Punch | Babydoll - YouTube

for the skin; the make-up artist, Rosalina, used many different ones throughout filming and airrushed them on. i suggest using any light foundation. make sure it's appropriate for your skintone (if you're not as pale as emily, go for a maximum of 2 shades lighter than your natural skin). the blusher is a creme blush from MAC in the shade 'red'. for the final sequence she used Shu Uemura blush in #14.

for the eyes; for the base colour use a milky/vanilla/pinky colour. Vanilla from MAC would work. for the crease colour she used brown/grey tones, Kid from MAC was used but you could use a greyish colour instead. eyeliner is a gel liner from MAC, in Blacktrack. (make sure you dont flick it out too much at the edges). the lashes used are #111 by Ardell.

for lips; emily has full lips so if you have a smaller mouth try lining your lips with lipliner just outside your natural lip line. lipstick was Sheseido BE109 and lip liner BE701.

hope i could help xo

I've been working on a Sweetpea coat commission for Dragon*Con. Here is my progress thus far:

The outside is a dark brown pre-distressed leather (lambskin) and the inside is fake, low pile, beige fur. There are five hides total in this jacket, although my job would've been a bit easier had I gotten six. I'm using 138 weight thread in a beige color with size 0 grommets in antique silver. The black ribbon is from Jo-Ann's (as is the fur). I got all my leather from The Hidehouse.

I draped my pattern initially as a princess seamed coat, and made a few minor tweaks to match the movie coat as much as I could (diagonal back shoulder seam, combining panels 4/5 at the bottom).

Thanks for looking!

yeah it`s a mixture between this

Sucker_Punch_image-15-399x600.jpg

and this one down here, it`s actually based on this leotard (WHICH, THANKS YOUTUBE QUALITY, NOBODY CAN SEE WHAT I`M TALKING ABOUT) but it`s the one she has in the first dance scene, but without the gloves.

so yeah, everybody has their costumes based on their dance choreography... except her ¬¬
Yeah I see what you mean. I got all excited when I noticed Amber was wearing her Maid outfit under her flight suit. And Rocket had a black version of her nurse outfit on :lol

Hi everyone, I just had to create an account to tell you how wonderful all your costumes are!! I've been stalking this thread for awhile, I'll be attending Supanova in Brisbane (Australia) in November, and I'll be cosplaying as Blondie. I also thought I'd share what I've done thus far! At the same time as making Blondie's costume I am also making Amber's holster for my friend who is coming with me - if anyone has any tips I'd love to hear them!!

This is also quite a subtle one but the hairband she has on reminds me of the goggles in the alternative reality...that's some imagination Baby Doll has :lol

Cool, more people need to attempt Blondie!!

Will you be at the Gold Coast Supanova in February as well?

I actually draped my jacket on a dress form to my measurements and made the corset bits lace all the way up to the top of the jacket. I joined the two pieces at the hood by just stitching across and using the hood's hem/seam as a little bridge.

I used this tutorial:
Underbust pattern tutorial « learningtofly – Katafalk
to learn how to make underbust corsets to my size and modified the corset layout from that.

I think that the hood was probably the most difficult part to make, since it's kind of a nun's habit shape rather than a regular hood. I ended up making tons of tiny mock-ups for it before I got one that I thought was just right.

I posted almost every step of my jacket construction on my tumblr if you're interested.

Thanks for the links! It came out great! I love seeing people's progress. Actually I finished my coat about a month ago. I ended up doing mine pretty similarly to yours, actually. And I used this pattern for the whole coat: Womens Costumes Sewing Pattern 3618 Simplicity

The coat itself was heavily altered from the vest and I used the red riding hood pattern for my hood. It doesn't point in the back, so it ended up working really well.

Can't wait to wear it at Dragon*Con for the first time!

Wife is currently finishing her Sweat Pea replica. Will post as soon as we finish. Was for this year Dragon*Con, but we unfortunately and devastatingly will not be able to attend this year.
