Sucker Punch costume thread

For all those Babydolls out there including me kind of :lol I'm working on a tutorial to make your standard airsoft grips into Baby Doll or Diamond grips.

1:Take the grip and draw out the diamonds with a pencil (white works best)
2:cut them out with a sharp knife (I used a scalpel).
3:make a duplicate of the whole grip in either wood plastic or in my case rubber.
4:glue it to the back

Alternatively you can just glue a piece of rubber in the shape over the top of the cut line for the more raised look.

Result would be a 3d cutout with a flawless diamond edge and backing.

Then paint and varnish. As far as the woodgrain or marble effect I'm working on that. :confused

This is only a test at the moment so I will post my results before I paint them to show you the finish.

...Or just buy Remington laminated wood rosewood grips... :lol

So... My costume is coming together, and with the help of EpilepticSquirrel, my husband managed to get these together. He isn't happy about the sword being black, and still needs to do the cording (anyone have a good tutorial on that?)

So, here are my weapons.

Very nice. Glad you got the diamond grips, mine didn't come with them

Also has anyone else had the problem of finger prints on the paint? even after 2 days drying I used Plasticote Silver paint spray and some areas it's fine but others are tacky. It's had 4 coats of paint in total. :p

Loving the sword too :thumbsup :thumbsup

and the world was more beautiful than I`d dreamed, and also, more dangerous than I`d imagined...

i THINK it was something like that, havent seen it in a while T.T

but the one thing I can say (and with this we can stop the off-topic) WE`RE ALWAYS ON THE SAME TEAM :D

Thought you were a TRON hater?
Now look who's all quoting dialogue :lol

Didn't really have any problems with the paint being sticky at all... Used Rust-Oleum brushed nickel all surface paint, and painted it over about 5 days... Spraying single pass coats from about 2 feet away. Then used Mod Podge Matte acrylic coat over the decal area... No stickiness at all.

Paul - the tackiness comes from the paint not setting correctly.

Was the surface really really squeaky clean? If there was any sort of residue, whether it be mold release or soap or something, its going to screw up the paint cureing. It could also be the material you are painting (if you didn't use primer). What is it made of, plastic I presume? (I'd assume ABS, which is pretty easy to paint if you prep it well).

It was plastic but it doesn't matter now I got the gun for free and I didn't like the finish anyway so have ordered a metal one. I didn't prime it no which now I know was a mistake, goes with being a costumer I guess, you learn from your mistakes :cool

Just popped in here to check out what's going on and say your post. These are some damn nice weapons! Is your gun totally custom made or did you order it online with a decal of the design across the barrel? The little charms as SO sososoososo CUTE! I love Baby Doll's costume. Would never make one for myself but she is adorable!

I HEART a good Sucker Punch group :love

Is your gun metal or plastic? I'm about to start on my Babydoll cosplay and am wondering which gun would work better.

I NEED HOLSTER HELP!!!

Hey guys, I am about to start on my Babydoll cosplay, and after reading every single post in this thread, I didn't see much on how to make the holster.
I figure I can probably figure out the rest of the outfit, but not that part.

I was wondering, is anyone willing to do a commission holster for me, OR just help me out with patterns/instructions on how to make it? I really am stumped and intimidated by it.

Thanks everyone! :)
