First & last time I use Halfords white Primer, its not a patch on the grey.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

It's seeing things like this that inspire me and keep me motivated. This is just so above the board I'm at a loss for words.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Yeah, I'm with Rich. The word "inspiring" gets thrown around a lot, but in this case it absolutely applies.

We see some very cool SS miniatures here and on the RI, but this A-wing is stand-out. One might even say outstanding. Hat's off to your talent and fortitude.

The primed finish is so crisp and smooth it's almost a shame to paint it.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Wow, thanks guys. I never thought for 1 minute that it would be this appreciated, please all dont forget its Mike's pulls as well. Without Mike it wouldn't exist.

I am finding it hard not to throw paint at this tonight. There are a few donors that I have still to ID & I dont want to add my own copy's to the build. I would rather see if they turn up one day & add them later so I really am just waiting on some styrene rod to do the piping on the sides. Its such a wind up.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Thanks again guys.

I've decided not to even start making the guns till its painted, I know thats a bit daft but I am so keen to paint it I cant wait another day.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Awww thats a great shot in primer I remember those days well!!!:lol:thumbsup
Don't confuse this shot as Guy's model, he is 1000xs better painter then me!!!!

Its about time we saw your work again mate, that does look really stunning. It would be ace to see them side by side one day.

The paint is still going on & wet in places so it looks quite patchy, low light with no flash so its not a great pic

huh, its not that color in real life I assure you thats looks minging nicoteen stained......

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Wait until you mask it off and do the red'ish brown
the contrast is really going to blow you away!!!:lol:thumbsup
Your good though you will get it toned down nice!!

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

At last, I'm painting.
Quick couple of shots of where its at right now. Mixing this red was tough but I've seen how it looks with the misting & wash & I'm pretty chuffed with it.

Its a tough one as in all the shots its a different color or shade so I've just gone for the average, seems to work in the past.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Thanks mate, Been busy but time to stop for the night.

All the colors are custom mixed, no stock colors on this baby. I've added a mist of the Blue/grey color all over the red & its really brought it to life & much closer to the original. I was starting to get that Oh, No! feeling for a bit but the misting has turned it around.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Th misting around the canopy rail and cone area is perfect, it
looks just like that on the mini "dusty looking", awesome that you
captured that!! Also I see it on the canopy bulkhead fantastic, the
orange like shade on the front panel and the engine look perfect as well!!:love:thumbsup

Regards,
Michael

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Guy that looks so excellent, I´m really envious! :lol This build is incredible, especially considering you´re relatively new to scratchbuilding. I cannot await seeing the end result.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Thanks mate, I'm loving the paint on this build as its kinda scruffy & obvious how its done but still loads of room for error,, cough cough!!!!!
