Interest Steel Cylinders and Barrels for DaveChaos & AndersEFP Blade Runner Blaster!

Hello all! It has been quite a minute here!
This interest list never ended up meeting the minimum requirements for my machinist to take on the project. Unfortunately his schedule has been booked quite far out at this point and rather than try to offer something I simply can’t deliver on, I no longer want to drag this out any longer. (This is why we do interest lists before taking money :) )

Now I have had member Teddz reach out to me letting me know he has started on his project for the blasters, which includes work on steel cylinders and barrels. I haven’t done business with Teddz personally nor am I necessarily endorsing him, but this may be something to consider if you’d like to complete your blasters with steel parts as planned. I have had a discussion with him, and gave him permission to link that run on this thread.

I’m sorry all of you who have waited patiently, and this never came to fruition. All is good though, and I hope another run can fulfill those finishing touches to your blasters!

I might add, Teddz does do great work, but I would double check measurements...at least for his barrels, I purchased a barrel from him a few of months back and it would not match up to the metal frame I got from Dave @ tiptop. The end of the barrel was too small for the hole in the frame*******..so it would not stay in the frame by itself, like other barrels I purchased from him. So check your measurements with his, before purchasing. I'm traveling at the moment, but I will post pictures. Also, another heads up..if you are looking to purchase the cylinder, plan on purchasing the crane arm and the other bits, $150 Euros for the Cylinder( plus crane parts) and 15 additional Euros for Shipping to the USA. He is correct, pricing isn't that different, so might as well get the crane...but just wanted to pass this along to everyone.******* Just to clarify, Teddz makes great parts, and the loose barrel could be do to a change diameter of the metal frame when it was created.*****

The barrel I make is based of the original files posted by Anders. If the metal frame offered by Tiptop changed, I'm not aware of it. You should have let me know of the issue and I would have worked to fix it. If possible, let me know the diameter of the hole in the frame for the metal tiptop frame. I'll make a note of it and in the event someone with the metal frame wants a barrel, I can adjust accordingly.

You are right, my apologies, I only put the barrel in last week for my first assembly, I will contact you with measurements and pictures. Still looking forward to the cylinder, I"m sure that will be the same excellant quality machining as your other items I have purchased from you for my Tomenosuke blasters.

I use a 13mm bit to drill out the pewter, not sure what my +/- tolerances are on my cheap mill. A quick fix would be to add a couple of grub screws I guess. is there much wobble dcast any room for a shim?

Hey there Dave, I'm traveling at the moment, but there may be...it was pretty loose. Do a quick check on the Ander's barrel files, shows that the insert portion is 12.55mm. But that would explain the difference. I'll have to double check when I get back.

yea, a 13mm drill never produces 13mm. It's always 0.1-0.2mm over. If i need exact, I'll drill under and ream it out.

The nub diameter is smaller and would account for the poor fit. I can make a barrel with the correct diameter for the nub. Just get me a fairly accurate measurement of the diameter, preferably with a caliper and I'll send you one to make sure it's all good.

Hi Ted, I was able to take a couple of measurements, and it looks like the metal chassis for the Anders build and they were consistently coming out as 12.75mm +/- 0.01 mm , the barrell insert measured at 12.55 mm. I was able to snug it up by wrapping some electrical tape around the insert portion.

ok, I can send you one with a correct nub. Good choice on the electrical tape.
