Starship project

Thank you very much. As I was telling Kurt today this is my first SciFi sculpt, but I enjoy it so much it definitely won't be the last.

It's much easier to do than chiseling stone.

I'm in the process of constructing a jig to align the nacelles and pylons.

Yeah I know my workshop is messy. :confused

Not quite yet, as soon as I make one I'll know for sure.

Here's some better pics, I used brass rods to connect the pylons to the hull.

Rel, that is a beautiful work of art. I'm really going to love seeing this beauty fully painted and lit on display. Kudos. You said it's not going to be your last starship.........any hints on what other projects are bouncing around in your head?

Not to digress from the main subject at hand here, but what is the object in the background with the egyptian hieroglyphics and the egyptian statue next to it REL???

I think I can make a guess on what might be coming down the line next, especially if it's Trek related.

For all who ask about the Egyptian sculptures, check out REL's website and see his incredible sculpting skills for yourselves. I especially like the winged sculpture. The smoothness of it is incredible. Carving plastic is one thing but carving marble is something totally out of my league.

Come on REL, what's next on the starship idea table? ;)

Thanks very much. Actually those larger pieces were sculpted from rigid foam then I painted them to look like ancient stone. The big 8 foot tall one only weighs 50 lbs.

Well for what's next I would have to say the Ent D or DS9 Defiant in Star Trek. I would also like to make some Star Wars ships as well, something different like a Mon Calamari cruiser or one of the chrome ships.

I didn't know the winged sculpt was foam. Great work. Could I make a suggestion for your next project......."cough....cough...TOS enterprise....cough.....1/350 scale....cough...cough...lighted....cough"

Sorry, really dusty here.

As for the chrome ships from the first three Star Wars movies, that would be really nice, with a cockpit and ramp details. Great idea.

Oh, how about a large scale Excelsior?

I think Master Replicas has that ship pretty well covered. ;)

Now the Excelsior is a possibility.

"something different like a Mon Calamari cruiser or one of the chrome ships."

my vote is for the Mon Cal.
You could do such an amazing jog on that.

To the extent you did a Star Wars ship, I would bet there would be significant demand if you had it cast. I'd be first in line.

Naboo cruiser would be wonderful. So would the Mon Clamari cruiser. Wonderful stuff, REL.

I/350th movie version. That would be super great.
