Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. So I ordered an Orhadar comic Spider-Man design and had it printed by fabric on demand. I am 6 feet tall and have a medium/athletic build. After talking with Trophywife, as well as Orhadar, they recommended I increase the width of the file to accommodate my shoulders. After finding this thread, I began to worry about fitting into the suit height wise. Trophywife has my fabric and I just received confirmation from her that based on my measurements and height the suit should fit just fine. I resized the file by two inches in width, but I did not resize the height. Hope this provides some helpful info for you all.
Sorry about being MIA the past two weeks. With all of this HYDRA uprising I've been a very busy guy ( Not to mention all of the Spidey gigs this past week AND I just rescued/ adopted a new Pom puppy!).
Anyway, so my seamstress dropped the ball for the first time in almost three years on me, and that REALLY put me in a bind! I already had four Spidey gigs booked for this past weekend and now no suit! I searched online frantically a week ago for a ready made Spidey suit that could be overnighted to me. Luckily, and with some help and advice from my good friends on here Sonny C and Joe Lai, I was able to track down a deluxe Zenati version on the ASM2 suit with a removable hood in my size. I'll post photos later. It wasn't really that bad surprisingly. Even had the raised spiders on the front and back. Color was off and a tad too bright, but other than that it worked and fit well.
Joe made a nice faceshell and lenses for me, which will work much better with my new suit, this temporary Zentai one has those fabric mesh eyes built in but luckily my magnetic eyes covered most of it up. What I will probably do is keep this suit as a back up and for kid events, use the TJack lenses on it, and use Joes lenses on the new suit once it is finally finished.
So with less than 24 hours to spare until my first gig last Thursday, I was scrambling to put a zipper on the hood of the Zentai suit and trying to get shoe soles on the feet.
Luckily it all came together and Thursday night went fairly smoothly as did the next two days of events. I really wish my new suit was ready for this weekend, but at least I had something and didn't lose these gigs all together!
Now about my new suit (Not the Zentai one). I did do a test fitting last week and here is what I have discovered: One size does not fit all! And that will be the moral to this story kids.
I resized the Orhadar pattern myself to 30", and what I found was that the suit was still very tight in the chest area, but too long in the arms and legs. Fortunately my seamstress can cut the boots and re sew them on to shorten the legs, and we are making speared gloves now to shorten the arms. So there definitely are proportion issues here. I think yepimazombie was on the right track by widening the pattern as well.
I have decided to just put an invisible zipper straight down the back and one of the hood as well.
As I said one size does NOT fit all, and the best way is to piece the suit together in sections sized for YOU!
But, this thread was created to help everyone make the proper adjustments and help make better educated guesses BEFORE you waste too much time and money.
I will post my photos later today, and please keep up with the great feedback and personal experiences!
