I really wish i could make it now, to buy you guys a drink for saying what I've been thinking about posting forever ago.
Its all about priorities. Hell I am literally going to be there just a few hours before, and I am chosing to not go because i know that its more important for me to get back and do well in Dental School and have a career that will allow me to go to what ever prop party I want later on.

In addition, if there's anyone I actually DO NOT want to attend, it's Brad. I prefer to be the best looking guy in the room, and he always gives me a run for my money.

Well from what I've seen of your costumes, you have NOTHING to worry about. You do an excellent job!
@Ceric, I hope you understand that the bluntness of what we say here is for your benefit. If you were thinking that this was an opportunity to spread your prop making wings and mingle with people in the business, then you were mistaken. This is more of a social get together to talk "S" about props, movies and knuckleheads on the RPF. It's a great time to make friends with other RPF'rs but not a hob-nobbing scene at all. You really should look into setting up a local RPF prop party. I think you'd be surprised with the amount of people that are into props in your area, even if they aren't on the RPF.

From an outsider's opinion, I need to say that the reaction from other members here towards Ceric is a little disappointing. I just read over the last few pages in a couple of minutes and was a bit shocked.
Ceric said it right when he concluded that he was pretty much not welcome at the party...those involved can deny this, sure, but I can pretty much guarantee at this point that if he were to show up, the first thing said to him would be "So you decided to blow the money, huh? <sigh> Well, it's your call." And would be constantly discriminated against the rest of the day.
I know you guys were trying to help him out, but you need to be a little more negotiating and not just tell him he's wrong and to go to his room. He's an adult (he shouldn't have had to prove it like he did), treat him like one.
If it was really that important to you to give this guy your personal advice, do you think maybe you should have done so through PM's instead of debating him on the face of the thread and potentially embarrassing him in front of people he is trying to become friends with? Matt, that "19 and young" speech you gave was really inappropriate and humiliating.

You are of course, entitled to your opinion, though I find your circular reasoning confusing. First, you say we should have taken that type of lambasting to PM, and then you turn around and attack me. Oh well. Doens't really worry me.
Also, Ceric has been VERY vocal and VERY open with his situation in life and things he consideres problems. He has often come to the forum for advice on how to deal with his circumstances, and how to overcome some of his problems. I even linked to a thread earlier in this thread containing some pertinent information.
My point is that it's not like we're airing dirty laundry on the dude. What we know about him is stuff we have learned on the RPF, including his pleas for help. So when the members of this forum respond with some advice that may not seem pleasant to folks who have skimmed this thread, you'll have to excuse me if I don't feel guilty for responding in a way that i consider appropriate, and possibly necessary.
I personally consider Ceric a good guy and a friend. We chat on facebook from time to time. I'm guessing you didn't know that. I am JUST as brutally honest with him in our chats, and I also try to share some of my hard learned life lessons with him while encouraging him and offering advice.
So I guess it's all context. While you may have viewed this thread as a beat-up or a pile-on, I saw it much more as a tough-love, come to ***** kind of thing. If you disagree, that's totally fine, and you are of course entitled to your opinion. I just don't want you, or anyone else reading this thread, to think that there's any kind of malice towards Ceric.

Yeah, I agree with Matty, you really dont know us that well....if he does show up, we wouldnt discriminate against him...every-one is friendly and we talk to everyone....I think we have amazing members in our socal group (matt included even though he still lives in hell)
