Step and I are in. Either of the times work for us.

Re: So Cal Prop Party 2011...Let's start talking

Well it really depends what people want...do people want alcohol? entertainment? food? or do they all just want to stand around and talk props?

I think we have out grown the DB room. I think we ran out of space pretty quick. I know some community centers have a decent large amount of room....but the problem is no alcohol and no food....I dont drink, but i am sure a few of you guys would want a beverage or two or three....

I cant really think of a decent place that has food, alcohol, large room......hmmmmm, does dave and busters have a larger room available...

I'm in so long as it's not the weekend of February 18-20. And before that I'll probably be really busy finishing stuff up, but I could find the time if I had to.

Re: So Cal Prop Party 2011...Let's start talking

FYI, there are much bigger rooms at D&B than the one we have used for the past couple parties. I think there's still an opportunity there.

Re: So Cal Prop Party 2011...Let's start talking

I am in this year I mean next year for sure! Since the last prop party was a big success what say you about tying it into a Con? Wizard World Anaheim? I wanted to do this last Con but due to lack of commitment, not having to sit around ones props 100% of the time, and lack of comms with Anaheim Convention Center (short notice) it never happened.

What say you? Take the Prop Party to another level? More exposure for talents, individuals, RPF!?

ANAHEIM COMIC CON APRIL 29-30- MAY 1, 2011 FRI-SAT-SUN Anaheim Convention Center

Speaking of which what is up with all these WWE personas showing up at Comic Cons? I don't see the relationship!

Or not!

I dunno, Wizard World Anaheim is a little meh last year. If you weren't interested in getting autographs there wasn't much else going on.

I'll second the "bigger room at D&Bs" plan. It seems to fit our needs pretty well.

I thought about the larger room as well. I would have to see it again to make sure it would work. If I remember it was about twice the size of our last prop party room.

Re: So Cal Prop Party 2011...Let's start talking

Sounds like fun. I can't commit until a date is announced but I'll sure try to be there.

Yeah, that sounds about right. We have done a couple prop parties in there in the past. The weird thing is that like HALF of it is for tables, the other half is the "dining" area, so I'm not really sure how much extra room you get unless you let people set up stuff in the dining part.

The bummer about doing a community room is that you run the risk of the host/organizer/sponsor dropping out at the last minute. I threw a couple parties at the community room at my apartment complex, and that worked out really well also.

In my experience, Brad, the way to do it is this: Take ownership of the thing, and just make it happen. Don't try to run it by committee, and depend on nobody except yourself. If that means you need to fund it yourself and then take collections at the door, do it that way. Trying to get everyone to agree on a date, collect payments, size the room... bleh. Just take ownership, make the decisions, make an announcement and let it happen.

I think if I lived in Socal, I'd be doing this every three or four months. Even if it just turned out to be the usual suspects, it would still be more fun than I knew what to do with.

I completely agree. Since last time we had a really good turn out but very little space, I thought I would through it out there for input. Ultimately, I will make the plans and put everything together. I will collect money upfront though, just like last time.

I dont really consider Anaheim Wizard con an actual full blow con. It seems to be more of the hollwood signing type ordeal. As a comic con, it literally sucks..No offense to any-one, but it isnt that great so you get tons of D listers come promote themselves...It is kinda like the Clippers compared to the Lakers..the lower lesser version basically..

Also, I think a lot of us didnt want to tie it in with the anaheim con because no-one was really interested in the convention...

Well, I can drop by irvine DB sometime in the near future and ask the if I can take pictures of the bigger room so we can get a better idea of what we are working with.

I work with an organization that has community centers and rooms. The only problem is refreshments. We would have to bring our own, so it would be easier to do it as DB so we can have that refreshment option..

Re: So Cal Prop Party 2011...Let's start talking

Yea, I'm opposed to the con tie in as well, I really have no desire to see anything there or pay the admission fee.

I am all for the bigger DB room. Thanks Michael. If you can do that, that would be great. I remember it in my head and as Matt said, I remember it having half of it filled with non-movable tables.

Re: So Cal Prop Party 2011...Let's start talking

I'm bummed I wasn't able to attend the last party, it sounded like a great time was had. Count me in for the next! :cool

Re: So Cal Prop Party 2011...Let's start talking

this is exactly why i don't like being a dutchie. I really want to attend but i probably can't afford it :(

Re: So Cal Prop Party 2011...Let's start talking

Is this still in the works? I missed this years but I think I'd be game for next years depending on when and where. Don't suppose we could throw it somewhere a little further north than Irvine like, say, Brea or maybe even Orange? Irvine is just a tad far for me (I live in Walnut just across the OC/LA county line) but still doable if further north isn't doable.
