You might be one of the most swell guys to get to know, but your English just ain't... Still, good luck on building your weapons mate. :D

Some more WIP on the backpack
Shading first, still have to add details like bumps, scratches etc.

See who finishes his backpack first, me or Carl :D

Progress has been slowed down for quite some time, but I finally am back on the subject again. Thigh armor in progress.

Some newfound respect for sculptors though, I once told Paul (Hez) that his Gort could've used some smoothing, but I can imagine ending the progress since it takes FOREVER to refine all those surfaces, lol. If Paul did that, we'd still be waiting and the Gort already is a piece of art.

I want to get my general shape down before I go more into the detail side, and still bending my nugget over whether I'd keep it flat as it is now, or get a snap-cast of my thigh to bend the basic sculpture over in a slightly heated form for flexibility. For Latex, it won't matter much, but if I'd take polyurethane (much like Carlarts works), it'd better be somewhat curved. Still far too distant though

Another shot, when I just drew the lines and started carving the concave parts under each edge

You can always hot glue or latex some wire into the back of the peice once cast, your thigh will not have a HUGE curve in it, so it will not bend out of shape tooooo much.

hopefully

Not too sure, Lee, polyurethane would be kinda sturdy I guess. Heating it up in an oven and slowly bending it to shape over a casting would be more suited I guess.

Still, it all comes down to learning and honing skills in making cool props, both the chestpiece and the thighpad are the first serious sculpts, after I did a Rumpelstiltchkin about 10 years ago... And that bust fit a cd-juwelcase cubed... (a remake is on my to do list).

Thanks for the comments, I'll keep you guys posted

aaah sorry i thought you were going latex.

why not use fastcast resin like easyflo 120, you can heat that ( i used a kettle ) and bend it to the shape you want.

Sounds interesting enough to try, will keep that in mind once I get to that point.

As for what clay I'm using: Pelikan plastilin, works fine, but might pick up some chavant nsp or klean clay in the future, just to try different materials. Dunno if it's this clay, but i think it get's a little flaky when it's really thin.
