She-Hulk time! (Finished! pg 4)

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

And perfect may not be entirely necessary. If you can get extremely close, the average human would be hard pressed to notice a difference depending on physical distance between the two.

I also recommend making the color match in the type of lighting you plan to be wearing the costume in the longest. Otherwise you might be affected by metamerism, aka colors looking different depending on the light source.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Just looked up the makeup used in Wicked. It's actually really close to what I'm going for, I think. Turns out it's Landscape Green Chromacake by MAC pro. Expensive as hell though, I'm wondering if I should go for it? It's also a LOT darker looking in the pot...maybe the soft mossy green from the broadway show is just a result of the lighting.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Just asked a friend who works for Universal during their Halloween Horror Nights event what type of makeup they use for the scareactors. I know that stuff lasts for hours and doesn't run or streak easily. Actually I've seen it last for days on some friends who never bothered to remove it from their arms over the course of a weekend they worked.

from that photo, I'd say it is. She has one heck of a spot light in her. plus make-up and costumes will work with the lighting directors so colors will appear as wanted under stage gels.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

If you go the bodysuit route you can just do the legs and arms maybe even sewing them into the suit so that the white and purple suit itself covers any "seams" and then just makeup face and neck...

It's just a matter of buying a matte body-stocking that goes to the wrists on the arms. With gloves, nobody will notice. They're all over the place and cheap to boot

What about something like this?
Liquid Latex Face Body Paint

Liquid latex is very shiny.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

I use Reel Creations alcohol based airbrush paint for my Ahsoka Tano costume. Won't sweat off or rub off on clothing. You will need about 6oz for full face, arms, and leg coverage. You must buy their make up remover though. Nothing else works well enough for getting it off your skin. Expect to spend about an hour removing it.

Yes, it is expensive.
No, you won't find almost any other paint that's going to look as professional.

Nice, you're a life saver.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

I'd also vouch for Reel Creations, we've used it a couple times for some Darth Mauls' and it goes on even and stays on.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

A few more things I would note about alcohol based air brush paint. You need to use sponges and paint to put the first layer on and then go over it with the airbrush. It works much better this way. Also have good ventilation when applying and make sure you hold your breath when you get your face done because it burns to inhale it.

I had to apply this a couple of times in a hotel room. I used a tarp and suction cups to attach it to the walls in the shower to create a painting area and then a box fan with an air filter duct taped to the back to help draw the fumes out of the bathroom.

It is a ridiculous amount of work to do this. However, there's not much I hate in costuming more than splotchy body paint.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

this is goinnng to be pretty cool!

Laam, did you ever beat munson in that off topic thing? lol:D

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Thanks for all of the info everyone!! It was really helpful, I cant even't tell you :] I think the best way to head with this is to go with the whole bodysuit idea and pick up a few ounces of the stuff from Reel Creations for my face and hands.

In other news I ordered some matte milliskin today. I decided to go with the plum color they had instead of the bright bright bright eggplant purple. It may help bring a degree of realism to it. Also gave up on my quest to find the right color of wig--I'll just dye it myself!

Still hunting down shoes/ a brazilian-cut leotard pattern/ purple fingerless gloves. I found a pair or two that were okay but really rather cheap looking.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

The bid-war for the wig really exploded holy crap. Not what I expected at all but now I've really got my heart set on it...

So I was looking around and I saw some pictures where the seam up the front of her leotard was actually a zipper. I think I may still hate it :[

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Boy, when I read She-hulk she was much more 'bulky'.

Make sure people don't think you're a green dancing girl.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

If anybody thinks I'm from Orion I'm soooo just going to go with it.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

I think it's only fair a suit for Munson should also be made. You could go as twins. He'd be the ugly one.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Vouching for alcohol based airbrush makeup it really does work quite well. I used a brand called Graftobian which goes a long way and isn't to expensive. We went as Nuada and Nuala from Hellboy 2 for The Labyrinth Ball and it lasted all night. A few things though....You need to get the application coverage right because to light and you barely notice and if you get the slightest bit to heavy every fine hair or fuzz will stand out like a tarantula. Seriously. Also I felt that the Graftobian brand was really easy to stand. There was no smell really and it didn't seem to stifling. It may not last as long as some paints but even when it does wear off it doesn't really crack and peel, just kinda disappears. We had it on our hands and that's where we noticed it the most. Also we were told to make sure that if you use alcohol based paint to clean out the airbrush with rubbing alcohol and not water. I know they sell cleaners for the airbrush for specific paint but we were told alcohol is the cheapest and same thing.

Just thought I'd pop that info in there in case you're still looking for options. : )
