She-Hulk time! (Finished! pg 4)

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

I think it is important to have the correct body physic and proportions to get this right... If not i fear we instead of SheHulk will se Ms Shrek.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Well, that is an opinion. The odds of anyone being a 7ft gorgeous green haired muscle bound woman are slim to none. For She Hulk, close enough is good. Laam just needs to bring us to the Gun Show!

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

I think this is going to look awesome! looking forward to seeing how well the colors come out and how well the paint matches the body suit!

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

If you can't find the correct color of makeup, look for temporary tattoo ink. A lot of that is a similiar acohol based mixture.

2) Tell me everything you know about body paint. Everything.

Hey Laamberry, I like the last one you've posted - without the seam line. I know, there was an online make-up article of Michael Westmore I guess, I read, where they discussed the Orion Slave Girl airbrush paint for the actors to give a natural look. It was a very special paint, dissolved in ethanol or isopropanol. I'll try to dig it out for you, but I can't promise anything.

There's an info here, but I don't think it was that article....

As for the body suit method:
I know that for the broadway production of Wicked they used a very thin stretchy material to cover the the upper torso (arms, hands, and shoulders), and they got it to match the shade of green make-up they used on the face exactly. I thought for the longest time that they had just painted the actress wherever she was green...

this is the best way I have found to deal with body paint. using the sheer nylon over arms, legs and torso can look really natural, especially if you go crazy and do some shading or highlights. painting the whole body is a total pain, takes really really long, and won't stay perfect (areas wear, streak, crack, or fade as your skin stretches and bends).

options for the face:
- you can airbrush on the face,
- use cream (jar) with a powder finish, followed by a sealer
- use cream pencil, blend well, powder finish, sealer
- user cream pencil, blend quickly, sponge or paint mehron liquid makeup over, powder and sealer (this method offers really really long lasting coverage and prevents the makeup from smearing or cracking. it's my preference if you don't have an airbrush and want a super smooth coverage)

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Vouching for alcohol based airbrush makeup it really does work quite well. I used a brand called Graftobian which goes a long way and isn't to expensive. We went as Nuada and Nuala from Hellboy 2 for The Labyrinth Ball and it lasted all night. A few things though....You need to get the application coverage right because to light and you barely notice and if you get the slightest bit to heavy every fine hair or fuzz will stand out like a tarantula. Seriously. Also I felt that the Graftobian brand was really easy to stand. There was no smell really and it didn't seem to stifling. It may not last as long as some paints but even when it does wear off it doesn't really crack and peel, just kinda disappears. We had it on our hands and that's where we noticed it the most. Also we were told to make sure that if you use alcohol based paint to clean out the airbrush with rubbing alcohol and not water. I know they sell cleaners for the airbrush for specific paint but we were told alcohol is the cheapest and same thing.

Just thought I'd pop that info in there in case you're still looking for options. : )

Thanks a ton for the nod in the right direction :] It all helps.

While I agree with you, I'm really having a hard time understanding why you posted this. Are you speaking in general or imply that this costume does not suit me? I'm not a large girl by any means, and I intend to be in even better shape by the time this con rolls around. It helps that I'm also 178cm/ about 5'8'' tall. Not HUGE like Shulkie would be, but I'm not short. But right...I agree with you on the whole. Not that I go into every Superman thread demanding that people become body builders.

Also very insightful :) thanks. I've got access to an airbrush, I think I'll try out that option.

Had to choose between two different shades of milliskin: plum

and straight up purple

Went with Plum. Also ordered my wig today :] Anybody seen any DECENT fingerless purple gloves?? I'm thinking the plum color is going to be too difficult to match so I should go with a charcoal pair like she has in some pics.

From the images, it looks like she wears weightlifting gloves. Most of the time, they match the purple on her suit. Other times, they appear to be black. If time is a constraint, I'd recommend going with a pair of black, ladies weightlifting gloves.

Thanks! Dunno why I didn't realize what they were from the get go. durp durp durp..

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

I would also recommend alcohol based makeup. A bunch of us pirates swear by it, and it doesnt come off with water or sweat. You can find some different shades of green in some of these pallets. Goodluck

Hmmm. I've seen the same pix and videos of Laam and her costumes that we all have. Unless she goes on a Jabba-esque diet for the next month, I'd say no way she'd look anything like Ms. Shrek.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Any progress to show us Laam?

Still in the process of tracking down all of the bit I need to buy. For some reason I can't find a decent high-cut bathing suit/leotard pattern just yet. It's ALL I could find just a while ago when I was working on something else :/

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Check the 1980's lol ;) JK... can't wait to see some progress when you get the stuff gathered.

Perhaps you should do your own variant and go with a bikini...

Speak of the devil! I found something I can take apart and use as a pattern right after I posted :]]

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

That's why it's always a good idea to speak too soon. It speeds up the process for only the low cost of mild embarrassment.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

if going for an airbrushable great make up that is realy long lasting but still removvable with soap and water go for micheal davey a.g.c.p. colours. its awsome stuff realy is long lasting and will do your job great. Mike is a stateside friend and industry pro who makes his own cosmetics. Index Page of Michael Davy Film & TV Makeup tell him piehead (ian) sent you. he will get your job done at a great price for material. i promise ya.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

by the way its as good as real creations / skin illustrator etc but easier to remove and just as hardy . i gotta say think you will look awsome as a shehulk too. good luck with this project. loved your cap america costume and your iron ette. i'm in the make up f.x. proffesion and so know of what i speak. Micheal is a great manufacturer and his materials while being underused are fantastic alternatives to the expensive types while being more user friendly and easier to remove. soap a shower your good !
