She-Hulk time! (Finished! pg 4)

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Also, keep in mind that you will be using other colors than green when applying your makeup. You need highlights and lowlights to add depth.

I did an Aayla Secura for an ex a couple years back. Wish i would have thought of doing the nylon bodysuit. That bodypaint was a pain.

Whoooo productivity!

Got my wig in and started out with this:

but quickly dyed and now it looks like THIS:

My body paint samples also came in. I messily airbrushed from elbow to wrist with one color and my hand another (also a bit of the lighter color above the elbow). Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a propper picture until i had been playing with alcohol to take it off.
But I do have this quick cell phone shot.

and this really gross post splashing-in-alcohol picture to show the colors. As you can see, one color is much too dark and the other is practically the color of the statue of liberty. I think I'm going to switch to Avocado, the color they used for the Orian girls (as someone suggested). These will be great for highlighting and shading some stuff, but they really just clash with everything else altogether.

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Oh and after reading a bunch of the older comics, I've decided eighties Shulkie is going to happen in the future.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

the wig looks GREAT! Love the natural look to the color.

you should do a test after mixing some of the colors you already have.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Here's my recommendation. Issue 2 from the Byrne run. This is Post-Toad-Men-Encounter She-Hulk. Sure to be a convention favorite. :p

The wig turned out really nice! Once you get the skin color dialed in sounds like you are good to go with that too. Seeing as it looks REALLY hard to clean off!

This is going to a be a really cool costume!

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

So did you end up using Avacado right out of the bottle or did you mix white or a dark green color with it to change it? Just wondering because I'm going to start working on an Elphaba costume from Wicked. I would like to know if the color of her skin in the theatrical photo posted in this thread previously matches your color closely.

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

I went avacado!
Pretty sure that in Wicked they used Mac Pro though.

Cell phone pic, but the color looks pretty accurate on my monitor.

The wig is obviously too light by comparison, almost looks blue or silver which is weiiiirrrd. Currently redying it :] should have pics soon.

Yes, the green skin tone is looking MUCH better! Is this the final shade or are you still playing with it?

do you go with this color tone or lighter?

The con is in abouuuut a week so it looks like this is about as much experimentation I can do for now. I had a color that was mixed a bit lighter and closer to the ref image, but honestly it just doesn't work in real life. This color is pretty "hulky" and looks a lot like the shade John Byrne used to have her as. (Or I guess Glynis Oliver, the colorist, did?)

With a little highlighting,shading, and a dark wig, I think I'm set!

Re: Shulkie by valentines day! (She-Hulk WIP)

Man I'm telling you. As soon as I can get my hands on a crazy curly wig, I'm buying myself a clunky 80s cellphone and a sweet lawyer's outfit and it is ON.

:lol

BTW I watched your vlog earlier and had to subscribe. Keep it up :)

Agreed, the video was very entertaining. Loved the cheap list of ideas.

Re: Shulkie time!

Welp, looks like the costume is a bust for now! I meant to have it done by the weekend but I've completely botched the bodysuit paint TWICE now. Does anyone have any tips on how to match the paint for the suit to the airbrush ink?

Got some other progress to show later, be back soon with pics.
