Maybe they help.

Anguas at work at the moment so I can give an update. Unfortunatly the sculpt had a little accident a while ago, it fell over and flattened one side :( It did however give Angua the chance to get the sculpt more symmetrical, get the base form better etc. A small delay but no biggy.

As far as I know Angua plans to do a run when its finished, when that will be though I dont know. Shes off to America with work this weekend for a few weeks so another update might be a while away.

Ill make sure she posts some new photos before she goes! Oh and thank you for the extra reference Robbie, appreciate it!

Hey,

Great sculpt!!! I'll be watching this one and I have to second Heatshock's comment too. It IS great to see another UK helmet maker!

Hi All

Apologies for the lack of updates – as Sevv mentioned I’ve been away on business and wanted there to be something to show before I posted again.

Robbie – Great close ups, just what I need right now as I’m really getting to the detailing/finishing stage. Trying to get everything smooth and even…

I’ll definitely be doing a run if there’s the demand for it :lol

Very cool Angua looking better every time you post pictures. If you do a run would it be for a kit or a finished helmet or both?Again very nice.:thumbsup

Another update, have been working this week to improve the symmetry which is a nightmare and to get the V at the front looking right - I think the proportions are getting there but it's so hard to tell from pictures quite how the radiuses work.

I think a run would probably be of the finished product, painted etc. It's a big job to do the painting and to get it right but if you're doing one you may as well do many. I don't have alot of experience of these things - do people prefer to do the finishing themselves?

Looks fantastic!!

A raw cast would suit me nicely. I don't mind finishing it myself at all. Though if you offer them finished then I'm still more than interested. ;)

gorgeous sculpt. as always - the key to success and uptake is based on teh final sale price :D

several points to consider

(1) cost - a trimmed, sanded and painted will always cost more; and so it should. but remember u are UK based and shippin to places abroad - that alone cost more just cos we are in UK. A rough kit may be the way to keep cost down and widen your market.

(2) if this lid works out anything like the Royal Guard - there might be subtle differences in cloth u get to do the cloak. WIth that - some people will then try to paint lid to match the cloak and would rather have a raw kit.

(3) there will always be people wanting a completed product. depends on ur market, and seeing that u are on the RPF, I would say the majority here would be able to handle the assembly and paint job.

(4) lastly - put up a INT thread and judge from there the interest (with est. pricings of course!) in the different forms. You should be able to judge then. Personally I would consider categories such as:

- raw kit fresh from mold
- trimmed, asssembled primed ready to go
- completed

hope to see it compelted soon!

Nate

Thanks guys, some good point there - particularly about people wishing to match the colour with the rest of their costume.

I guess it would be easy enough to offer this in the three finishes as suggested - I'd certainly be fully finishing one for myself.

Maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself anyway :lol, still a fair way to go...

Couple more update photos, no major changes this time I'm just working to get the whole thing smooth and crisp...going to take a while :lol

One thing I would like to get some opinions on - the vents as seen below in the back of the V...

They look pretty tricky to sculpt and are going to be a pain to cut once in fibre glass but I guess they help keep the visor clear from condensation...do you think they're worth my while?

Agreed. Something like that would cause you a headache. Yet they can be done by the customer with very little fuss. ;) Looking very impressive as usual!!
