3D model and build of McQuarrie Vader helmet.

I think the dome is too small overall. If you look at your first comparison image you'll see what i mean.
I can see how it might look like it but the angles are not the same and it's also a rough shot with the 13mm lens on the phone. I'll take better photos when it's done, this was only to show the progress as it is now.

Thanks for the remarks,
Well, That 'droopyness' is not easy to capture. I belive you're correct though, it's a tad bit wide between the tusks so I'll squeeze that a bit.
Here are a couple of wip's to show where I'm at.

Keep an eye on the overall size of the faceplate compared to the dome. Youve done such a good job of creating the 2 parts so far, but the dome needs enlarging by another 5-10% or so and it'll be bang on. Impressive progress pal! Smashing it!

You know what, Sadly I think you might be correct...

10% upscale

So, This project is kicking my butt.

First off, I thought I was done, I printed the pieces and assembled the dome only to realize that it was too small(after a lot of the sanding and puttying was done and primer applied). And i guess, that's fine, mistakes are allowed.

So, onto version two of the Dome, I upscaled it approx 10% and remodelled the interfaces and part split and such. After that I printed the parts, put it all together and am currently at the stage when the puttywork is done and primer has been applied. Which makes this all the more painful, Anyway, here it is currently:

So here it is, the realisation that I dont like the shape of it. particularly the squareness it has gotten. It kind of has the shape of a strawberry and I DONT LIKE IT! I NEED to taper it into something more like below picture to feel good about this and to make it more coherent or however I should put it, it's all feeling s in the end:

So here we go again I guess, Third time's a charm... Or am I wrong?

Just have a look at the lines as a whole. The lines from the head through to the helmet need to flow. The head needs to look like it fills the helmet, those curves need to flow through the face and into the helmet pulling the design together. Both your component parts are great, they just need to marry as one.

Have you ever heard that "perfect" is the enemy of good?

It looks really, really good.

If you want picky, though...

I would have the tip of the nose bulge a little. I think you added it, but then it seems like it went away.

The pointy front tip of the hat, a little longer, a little pointy-er.

The crease/ridge on the hat needs to be more flat. The sides of the hat should be more flat, and the top of the hate should have a more abrupt curve. The top of the hat shouldn't be flat, but less round.

There is a mandarin song kids sing to make fun of other kids with a BIG HEAD.
Dah Toh

Big head, big head
When it rains we bring and umbrella.
But you don't need one, you bring your big Head

That's perfect, I'll try to align facemask and dome up a bit better. Thanks

I don't mind picky, I'll try to modify the last touches in Zbrush which is a little easier to work with compared to Catia when it comes to these kind of modifications. Thank you for the notes, very much appreciated.
And the Mandarin song is hilarious(unless you're unusually bigheaded I suppose),

That's gorgeous! I always wondered if maybe Vader had more than one mask. I mean he has to have some lowly ensign clean it once in a while. Maybe this is his "casual Friday" mask. Sorry, I got a little off track...

It really is phenomenal work!

More pictures, please
Let me just get a bit further along and I'll show the result.

Thanks! ..and maybe combined with a more relaxed Casual Friday-suit? Maybe with a bit of color and not just black?
I don't think I'd want the title of 'Vader's Helmet Polisher'
Haha, Nope.
