Senate Guard Helmet Build

makes no actual diff in visor foggin.
not easy to cast or sculpt in.

leave it I say. those that would make the extra effort will, the majority would prob not bother.

This looks great! You are doing a wonderful job. I have a question for those of us who might be interested in wearing this helmet - how is it's size going to compare to a Don Post royal guard? Many people can't wear that helmet because of how small and tight it is.

Keep up the good work.

Are you sure they are 'vents' ? Not parts of the helmet coming apart? It's just that it looks like some white showing though.

I just noticed something and I wanted to point it out in hopes of being helpful. I was looking at your sculpt and the photos posted by Robbie TPC and I noticed that there is a difference between the two. The pics posted by Robbie TPC show the eyes have a lower brow than your sculpt. I only noticed it because your sculpt had a wide eyed look about it and it was throwing me off a bit. It took several min for me to notice because of the masterful job you are doing.

Again, I hope this helps.

I’m liking the advice about the vents. Although I’m pretty sure that’s what they are (I think the white is prob a reflection tbh) they would be a real pain to deal with. Good point about them being unwanted on display pieces.

I found it really difficult to find the correct size but in the end figured it out from pics of people wearing it and by comparing it to the Red Guard helmet – that’s not the Don Post one. I knew the Don Post Red Guard was small and made sure I was using correctly sized versions for comparison. A couple of dimensions – it’s approx 520mm from the point of the neck to the top of the crest and approx 800mm around the brows – I figure that should be big enough for even those of you out there with larger heads :lol

Thanks for the tip about the brows Silverback, I haven’t had a chance to have a close look yet but will do before I go on. You get so used to seeing something that you can miss things like that.

Yeah, I know what you mean. You are doing an amazing job, but I have been in a situation where it's hard to take a step back and look at it from a different point of view. I was happy to be of help.

Just a few more update images, definately getting there...

very nice mate!

now now - stop hiding - what other cool StarGate gear do you have aside from the Gate itself!

Just the gate I'm afraid - believe me that's enough in a small flat :lol

My boyfriend and I completed it about 18 months ago.

As for the helmet, I've been working on it again this weekend - should have some more photo's over the next couple of days - it really is nearly there, I can't wait to get it moulded!

Just another couple of pics as promised - not that anyone will be able to tell the difference :wacko
