I think the harness is complete! I added snaps to the padded portion and it is now removable which allows access to the nuts and bolts that attach the rocket. I also wrapped the aluminum straps with some thin leather and glued it on with E6000. Thanks to chibobber for the suggestion. It worked like a charm and saved me a bunch of time. I've been in sewing mode for so long, I overlooked the simplest solution.
It's not bad. It hits the collar bone a bit weird but I think I can adjust that.Looks comfy
Other than some final paint touch ups, I think this is pretty close to complete. I don't have the movie jacket yet so I tried it on with another one I have. The whole thing seems to fit really well. It sits on my collar bone a little strangely but I can fix that. I'm really happy with how this turned out. The best part for me is that this didn't exist in my life, so I made it and now it does. Next up: Helmet.

If I could impose on you for some information. I would ask the following;
What ounce leather did you use?
What hide cut? a side or double butt
What tanning method? soft or hard
What rivet style?
Did you use some Chicago screws?
Is there only one mounting point for the rocket?
I know it is a big ask.

Thank you for your interest in this project! I will answer as best as I can.
1. I'm not sure of the ounce but it's a sturdy yet flexible leather that is about 1/8th of an inch thick.
2. It's a half hide purchased from Tandy Leather in Tempe, AZ.
3. The tanning method seems to be on the soft side. I was able to easily hand stitch everything after hammering holes into the leather.
4. The rivets came with an inexpensive kit from Amazon. They are two parts and you put one on either side of your leather and hammer them together.
5. I did use some Chicago screws to attach the shoulder straps to the aluminum harness parts.
6. The pack actually has 3 mounting points. One at the top in the middle and one on each nacelle above the flaps.

It's been over a year since the last post, but have a couple questions... I am curious what battery was used to provide power. Any diagrams or tips to share as it pertains to wiring everything up? Would love to incorporate the sound and lighting effects on my jetpack but am in the dark on how to do it... pretty sure I can do it with some guidance though.

Thank you so much for posting this thread. I have recently committed to purchasing a kit and this has given me A LOT to think about…particularly with the harness. I do a SLIGHT amount of leather working and seeing what you did with it gave me insight on how easy it COULD be

Thanks for the kind words! I had zero leather working experience when I made this thing so you’re already ahead of the game. It wasn’t too difficult but was time consuming. If I had it to do over again, I would attempt to locate a leather sewing machine to make things a little easier.
