Hey Guys,
Been kinda busy and quite frankly missed my September deadline for the suit. But I have continued to build the suit. Pics below...
Started with a scale 11 for the helmet which was quite big for me and had initial problems with the dome part.

I thought of modelling the dome by way of a kettle but that looked good from the side
but kinda like robo moe from the front (LOL!)

Anyway started all over again with a scale 10 and this time, together with the help of a friend, we designed a 3 piece helmet that attaches together.

It also has a hinge that allows the upper part to be tilted up to reveal the face (although I may not be using that feature when I wear it-- too ugly :lol)

We also made an etched OCP 001 on the side of the helmet.

And here's the rough chest part (with the back turned)
I'll probably tinker with the idea some more, and if I do I'll be sure to post about it
Sort of random question because I'm thinking of doing this. Do you know if anyone has ever made a Robocop suit with an animated thigh holster?
I modeled the free panel and hinge system, but it was not a practical addition to the pep thread because of the components. The entire assembly is also inset so deeply, it would be difficult to make it practical on a costume suit. It'd be great to see a freehand attempt though!
Laelee could I have the pep files (or unfolded foam files if you have) of the panel and hinge system? It might save the trouble of having to cut up the finished thigh armor fro the holster mechanism. TheBlackPhantom am also working on a working thigh holster, I basically based it on the way Iron Man motorized helmets used servos. Nothing final yet but will post progress-- I am serious about an opening holster for the costume.
Can someone help me scale to 5'1" - 5'2" person? Thanks
Phunkymunky I am 5'7" (although my daughters say I'm really 5'6 1/2") and Asian build (Filipino). I used a scale 10 for the helmet and 450 for the body. If you're kinda stocky or wide at shoulders the 450 will work well even at 5'1" i think. If your thin or medium build you might try 430 or 420 scale but try to experiment with scrap cartons for cutting and building first to see if it fits so as not to waste foam (I know I wasted a lot of foam)

I think it may be challenging to do the thighs as they are really modeled around a tall person but I'll let you know when I get there.
Hey there,
I made the gloves as a prototype to help with sizing/scaling, so I never did a foam unfold. Having said that, give me about 10 minutes or so, I'll unfold one.
Laelee thanks for the foam gloves!
***UPDATED***
Glove foam template added to the first post. Finally added the skull reveal and face pep to the first post as well.
The builds I've seen were almost all for people over 6' tall. Having said that, I would scale the chest at 460 for your height. That is kind of a stand-alone piece; once you have a nice fit on that then you can figure out your lower torso scale.
As a side not, I modeled the lower abs to slide into the chest with space to spare between the two pieces. You can actually increase the abs and cod scale a bit, and it will still fit into the chest. Let me know if you get that far and want to double check on the fit between two scales.
Laelee, I was thinking of doing a shiny cloth with thin upholstery foam lining and attaching the abs ring you made for the abs part. The flexible cloth/foam will give the illusion of spring like motion or compressing decompressing rings when robo moves his abs in the movie. The eva foam does not allow for that illusion. Also I attached the lower part of the abs to the upper part of the cod as that would serve as a better "belt or garter area" for the cod part.
Thanks for all the ideas and keep on building guy!
