Robocop: The Original for Pepakura **8/29 1st post update, foam glove**

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura *6/16 UPDATE skull reveal and face added page

i think laelee's robocop files are on the first page for free and for the password you just need to pm laelee for the password. . .so i'm really confused when you said that you bought the file on ebay

I realized ita few seconds before i post my message, but i tried to download the hands and the shin files but they did not download. The files seems to be empty. Any help from you guys is most welcomed!

I just checked those links in the first post, and they are downloading fine. FYI these files are on 4shared, you will need a free account with them to download if you don't already.

Ebay? Laelee and Gaiatron are giving these files out for free. Guys I hope to return the favor someday when I make progress on my build and "discover" something useful to the RPF community along the process. A saying comes to mind: the BEST things in life are free. The Laelee/Gaiatron files are truly in the category of best. Guys thanks for all your hard work and may your generosity never wane!

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura *6/16 UPDATE skull reveal and face added page

Hey Laellee, solved the printing problem! Printed out trials on paper. Able to scale using 450 and 440 on some parts. Printed on board paper for foam pattern cutting. Still yet to piece together the boards. However when I got to the helmet, it's a different scaling issue. Any tips? My head dimensions are about 550mm circumference around the fore head area, 640mm circumference from chin area closest to the neck going up and around the top of my skull, 260mm from the forehead to chin. Don't know if all of those were necessary but I included as much data for basis. Come to think of it these measurements may already allow me to scale using 2D MENU>EDIT MODE>MEASURE DISTANCE BETWEEN 2 POINTS. He he he, you learn something everyday. Will give it a try now but if you know of a better way let me know. Many thanks!

I think I worked it out to about 10.5 scale for the helmet? Would that be about right? Will cut boards tomorrow and over the weekend FOAM! Thanks man!

Thanks Don! I'm still looking forward to see you rocking the minigun :devil

Glad you got it figured out!

I'm not going to be much help on foam helmet scaling; the thickness of the foam you are using will change how much space there will be inside to fit your head. I think there were two or three other people with WIP threads on here building their helmets out of foam, might want to see if you can find them. 10.5 sounds like a good starting point though for foam to me. Good luck!

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura *6/16 UPDATE skull reveal and face added page

Hey Guys,
This is addressed to all you guys following this (robocop the original for pepakura-laellee) and ecmuniz2's thread.
Thank you ecmuniz2 for the inputs and FINISHED costume- that was awesome, inspiring and provided great ideas for the challenges in building my robocop costume. Just a few quick questions: Has anyone experimented or does anyone know how to adjust scale out of proportion (as in adjusting only width or height without affecting the other)? The reason for this is having seen the finished work of ecmuniz2 which I believe is based on the wireframe pdo from laellee this pep file is somewhat different from the look that I wanted for the costume. I had pictured a robocop suit with proportions similar to the bulkier look of the second film, essentially bigger chest and leg parts (the parts for the arms are big enough, the thighs and chest have to be a bit bigger to cast the illusion and besides I plan to have a working thigh holster with an auto9 so the thighs have to be big to make room for that). I was thinking of importing the pdo files and paste in word (.docx) where I would then "pull" the picture sideways to make it wider. It's either that or manually cut away the resulting bigger but longer foam parts (if I want them bigger using the pepakura scale method adjustment I know of I would have to trim off the length - scary) both of which are risky in terms of loosing detail or really getting it done to the right scale (specially the copy paste on word method). ANY IDEAS ANYONE?
These reference pics are (edit) NOT mine AND ARE PICS OF TOYS but they might give you an idea:

I will be starting my own thread as soon as I have enough pics of the foam build. The first cut foam piees sucked (I suck at cutting foam) so I commissioned someone with better hands to do it and then I would glue them together. PLEASE HELP. THANKS!

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura *6/16 UPDATE skull reveal and face added page

Your best bet would be to rescale the individual pieces to the different sizes you want, and then doing fine-tuning as you put them together. Almost all of the major pieces on this suit have round detailing, so if you scale in one direction and not another it's going to cause those details to look off. As an example, those circular insets in the biceps and thighs would turn into ovals, pretty bad looking all in all.
If I am remembering the design details, you can scale these pieces separately:
1-Shoes
2-Thigh and shin
3- Abs and cod
4- Chest and neck
5-Biceps and forearms

So you can increase your chest and legs while leaving the cod, abs, and arms alone. The best way (I think) to bulk up the leg sections would be to build to your correct scale (height-wise) and then splice foam strips into the back/front to make the pieces larger around. Splicing is a heck of a lot easier than trying to modify the models without distorting the details. Ecmuniz was building off of these files, but he also modified a lot of parts, so his finished suit will look different than what the original peps would build out to. Anyways, hope this helps.

Pretty much, thanks so much. Will try them out later and post results as usual. Thank you for your immediate reply!

These are great files!!! Thank you so much!!!

Can someone please PM me a compatible neck seal? I've tried to download robo's IM seal, but it keeps crashing when i try to open it.

There's a paper pep neck seal in the first post. Give me about 10 minutes, I'll add a neck customized for foam.

***Updated***

Neck seal foam template added to first post. For the foam template, I extended the foams edge at the chest so it will tuck underneath for a clean seam. I also extended the top section of the neck where it would tuck into a helmet. I'm sure I overextended it, but I would rather have it trimmed to fit after assembly rather than too short.

Wow. Fast work! Greatly appreciated!

Time to get to work!

Odd question. Has anyone built the gun yet?

Odd question. Has anyone built the gun yet?

I've paper pepped one once, not doing that again anytime soon with the details involved. RPF member ecmuniz2 (might have got that wrong) made one from scratch I believe; he's got a thread on here with his suit build and the gun in it. joatrash also just finished up the master prints for airsoft m93r conversions and started an RPF interest thread, but going that direction requires a decent budget between finding the correct base and doing the conversion. I haven't honestly looked anywhere else lately, I would think somebody's offered a low-end replica of it that could be modified. Always hard to say with this stuff though.

double post

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura *6/16 UPDATE skull reveal and face added page

I haven't used a dot-matrix printer in a LONG time, but I would guess it has something to do with the way it is communicating with your computer (it's configuration). Beyond that, the files should print fine, and unfortunately I don't have a dot-matrix to troubleshoot with.

For your scaling, I would use an overall scale of 450. You can also import all of the different pieces (except for the helmet) in Pepakura Designer, and then use 2D MENU>EDIT MODE>MEASURE DISTANCE BETWEEN 2 POINTS to estimate sizing as well. Below is a picture of the pieces that can be imported and assembled properly in Designer:

Good luck with your printer!
Hi
As you know I am working on robocop armor:)
can You tell me how to put armor in one piece to pepakura program and scale . Maybe this way it will be easier. thx

Download all of the files that you want to combine first, then open one of them (like the chest) in Pepakura Designer. Next, choose file>import file(*.PDO...) and select another part .pdo, and it will add that piece to your pepakura. Keep doing this until you have all of the parts you want, and it should add them all in the right locations to do full-suit measurements. Parts that just get mirrored though, like forearms and calves, will only show up on the one side though.

Thanks for the files
I just printed the helmet, doing just the helmet for fun at the moment ;)
