Robocop: The Original for Pepakura **8/29 1st post update, foam glove**

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura **UPDATE->Leg piston added**

Leg piston model is added... the connect rod and inner tube is pepped for paper, but I would recommend using plastic or aluminum tube stock when building those parts.

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura **UPDATE->RT Bicep & Lt shin foam added**

I guess I missed reading your question the first time!?!??! The left and the right biceps are not identical, so flipping the patterns won't work (unless you just want them to be identical) The left bicep has more panel lines, and also a different rear detail. I guess it all depends on your personal preference though.
On that note, the only parts that can be flipped are the shins and shin pistons, the gloves, the shoes, and the upper and lower forearms.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for commenting!

Thanks for the hard work! I'm almost done with both arms, I went ahead and cut out the 2 different biceps, I caught the differences once I looked a little closer at the file. I will start on the chest piece tmrw. Althou, after looking at that file it looks like some parts are missing, for example, the left arm pit hole is there but the right side is not. Same goes for the rib and back section. I was wondering if I could just mirror the left side, flip the pieces to make the right side stuff and fill in the detail differences as needed?

We're getting it done (y)thumbsup:thumbsup I should have the shin pistons up in a day or so.

That's a gaiatron question I'm thinking :) He chooses how he thinks making templates is best, but I can help you too :)
The chest can be mirrored, the only differences are cosmetic. Those off the top off my head would be:

The details below the panel lines on the rear panel bulges
The right rear shoulder section has a post that sticks out
The front lower right chest had a round dial detail

I know for sure all those details can be seen on the chest paper pep file, if you want to look there as well.
As for cutting the arm holes bigger, I'm not surprised :lol I kept the openings smaller so that there would be no gaps on a stand-alone statue. The actual biceps on robocop ride higher than I placed them, but I lowered them for wearability.

I also have a neck piece in pep that I can get you when you want it. It'll need adjustment for your particular helmet fit, depending on how you want to put those parts together, but it's 95% done.

Oh yeah, so here's a partially pepped 11.5 scale helmet (Yep the jaw is not put on properly in the picture). Not sure how you got your size to work, but mine is HUGE :lol I am happy with it otherwise, although I can see some little tweaks I'll make later. I have a pretty average size head, and I'm guessing my correct scale is going to be about 9.75.

Let me know how it's going, or if you need any added peps to make your build better or easier. I wish I had time to just build this whole suit right now, I learn a lot about how to improve the models by building them as they are. Keep up the good work! (y)thumbsup

can you please give me a screen cap of the missing parts? maybe i can give an explanation on why i didnt include some of the parts oh btw laellee, what scale(mm) did you use on your helmet? still having a little bit of trouble on the boot so there might be a little delay on the foam version if you dont mind, guys.:facepalm

No worries! :lol I kept the boot in one piece, but I've got to figure out where to cut it into two parts to fit my foot through :lol:lol

After seeing ecmuniz2's being built at 300, I just decided to build in paper at 11.5 (284). That is way too big, so I am changing to 9.75, maybe even go down to 9.25. I see why he thought the chin looked too small at first, it does look small when you are first cutting it out.
Also, the strip under the nose can be trimmed back to fit better. It is pretty wide, I don't remember if I did that on purpose or not.

ooooohhh! A neck file would be awesome! lol! Idk, maybe the 300 height scale worked for me because I used 1/2" foam? not sure, but it fits pretty snug now...Thanks for the help, just printed out the chest pieces so I can start on that now :)

To be honest, I'm not sure how to do that...lol. I did find the pieces that were missing, I just had to zoom out a bunch and they were in the background. I don't think I'll use them thou, I think I'll just flip the right side pieces to make the left side since they r almost just mirror images. As for minding on a release, these files are coming out super quick! I'm amazed at how fast laelee is knocking them out and you are pepping. It's nuts! lol

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura **UPDATE->Leg piston added**

Actually I was going to ask you guys how I can print the pepakura without color? Just the black outline, I don't need the gray coloring since I'm just using foam...

It depends on your printer, but I set my printer to gray scale instead of color. This is A LOT easier said than done though, depending on your printer. Mine (an HP) makes me go through 3 menus before I can switch it.

Yep, the foam's thickness makes all the difference in scaling. You're automatically losing almost 2" in circumference on the inside because of foam thickness, but at least you don't have to pad as much.

The build looks like it's going well! I'll try and get the neck section up in a little bit. (y)thumbsup

Thanks!

Neck wrap is posted. It should be scaled the same as the chest so the seals match up; the neck hole will probably have to be enlarged for a foam build, as it's a close fit right now. Thanks for looking!

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura **UPDATE->Neck wrap added**

Very impressive! Always impressed with these pep builds!!

Re: Robocop: The Original for Pepakura **UPDATE->Neck wrap added**

Thanks for the kind words. I'm just hoping to see more original Robocops out there, even if the new film tanks :lol

Hey, just because the last one sucked doesn't mean this new one will! Although I don't know what to think of that new suit. Looks like a mix of iron man and superman! :facepalm
By the way thanks for the neck piece, I'm just about done with the torso so I will be tackling that next. Planning to use some thinner foam for that though...

Stop by the Movie forum and read 36 pages of despair over the RubberCop reboot. :lol

I saw the progress, looks great!
The thinner the foam for the neck piece, the better. My plan was to extend the neck so it can tuck inside the helmet opening, then mod from there. I'm thinking of using foam for at least the top half on mine as well for mobility. Keep it up! (y)thumbsup

I know, right? I have avoided the thread, and NOT because I have reserved any fondness for the reboot. We'll see though... :facepalm

I just finished the robodiaper and neck piece. I was gonna extend it too but I don't think I have enough room in the helmet anymore! :cry i gotta figure that out. Also gotta make it a tad longer in the back to go in the back piece. But over all pretty dead on! (y)thumbsup I will do the thighs next which like they will take a minute!

Are you still working with 1/2" foam? I'm looking at some neoprene-like stuff for my neck piece. It's thin, strong and flexible, but doesn't breathe AT ALL. :cry
