REF PICS OF THE AT-AT

Yes, the Saturn main rocket hull was used for the belly. The smaller stages of the body is used on the drive train together with the harrier engines. The "sphere" wich the "mystery" part sits on comes from the Saturn as well.

The 6 wheeler is an awesome find!!!! I actually think it could be it! The sad part is that I can imagine the 1/12 scale version are a small fortune.

I just spent $70 bucks to get the 1/24 Harrier (with shipping) and the truck is probably WAY more.

Sorry, my bad! F-1 racer.

Steve.

If you need the *** look here.

I wasn't aware of the "live auction rule" sorry. So I have removed the link, and the name of the item.

I made this pic to help show how the parts for the forward engine fits together. Please note that there should be a seat back from the Tamiya flakvierling 1/35 on both sides of the tyrrell part. None of this is drawn to scale its only to show which parts goes where. (The info on the Saturn V parts has been corrected).

Great info,
But FYI, according to the rules of the RPF we're NOT supposed to post LIVE auctions!

One of us "could have been" watching it in hopes to get it, now you just exposed it to the group.

Thanks for the info.

Neat diagram!

The saturn body parts on the AT-AT are the same as the X-wing but not the Y. The AT-AT/X-Wing use the second stage halves, while the Y uses the bigger first stage halves pictured above.

That's a great diagram! However, you'll need four Harrier engines. They were not used as "halfs". The part that covers the hip mounts are just halfs but the parts that goes with the saturn body are full.

Steve.

Is that four halfes or four full Harrier engines? Do you have any Pics or other reference material that shows the full engine between the hips and the Saturn V parts?

Four halves, so if you're not able to make moulds you'll need two Harrier kits. I'll see if I can find some pics when I get home from work (and get my internet connection working again)

Steve.

I would say that I'm about half way there. Always finding more things to alter though so who knows when it's all over.

I'm in no hurry though.

Just found this part, its from the Tamiya Matilda 1/35. It belongs on the neck.
There is also a ring on top of that. This could be a made piece, a kit part or perhaps a washer, I don't know.
Just FYI.

Finally here are some pics of my ATATRON.

Here is the head all done, except final paint and weathering of coarse.
First sorry for the bad pics, I just got this new camera and I'm still learning it.

The head has been heavily modifed, all in all about 30+ different mods and add ons...

Changes I have made using the MR AT-AT as my insperation as well as the Studio scale pics and some imagination..
1) I dropped the chin 1/4" down to make it look like the real one and addeding side detail panels on the chin sides.

2) Heavily modifed the chin guns by resculpting them in putty to make them more "beefy looking" detailed them in styrene as well.
Also added the Russian Tank wheels to details the sides of the guns.
Chin guns have been dropped about 1/8".

3) Detailed the bottom of the head with styrene and assorted model parts to make it look more functional.

4) added lots of new panels by making them in styrene and using the armored car windows, added new panel lines, redid some panel lines, redid some panels by making them or apparent and 3D apperaing.

5) Side guns are heavily modifed ATATRON base guns using Flakveirling guns and scratch building the rest and using asorted model parts.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Lynn

Stearmose, awesome find! That's a new kit that I have to get.

Lynn, the head looks fantastic! Now I have to rebuild mine too. It's great to see what the rest of you are doing, definatly pushes one to work even harder!

Steve.

Good news about the Matilda part on the neck. If you buy the kit you get TWENTY of them. They are also used on the 32'' Falcon.
And probably other SW models too. The Y-wing perhaps??
And the top of the hull, is the top of the head of the AT-ST.

New progress on mine today and over the weekend....

I made the veiw part window on the head smaller, it gave it a big time difference in it's appearance!

I started detailing the all the feet and legs with the Flakveirling parts and correct looking screw hardware.

I'm contmeplating going the radical route Steve has gone with the hull and getting the Dremal out and start cutting, but I'm still in the "thinking" stage.

This is turning into a really fun project!

Keep in mind these mods are in noway needed to this great kit (as it is a great on it's own right!) and is in no way an insult to Ron's kit, but it is a route and a challange I personally want to do and to master my skills more.

Lynn

Lynn, you realy need to post a pic of the new view port! I'm going to do this as well and it would be great to see how it turned out!

I'm also back on track again and I'm curently working on the hull. I also just finished the back of the "but tub". It was hard finding any good ref pics but I did my best.

Here's the hull, still need to be detailed though.
