Quakevirus Predator Build Wip - Suit Up Pics And Video Pg 8

Dude, you are a freakin machine! I can't believe how fast you are getting this costume done. I have followed a lot of builds here and none have gone as fast as yours. Your quality and attention to detail is fantastic. For being what many would say is a budget build (Mr I suit, Pep, sintra, etc) you are putting the pressure on a lot of the "pro" builds. Keep up the fantastic work.

I think some builds that are very well documented with how things are done should be stickied. I would vote for this one.

Now a bit of my two cents- Yes I would shorten your leather flaps as they look a little long. I'm not a fan of the black leather, I might change my mind after you get the armor painted though. I'm sure it will all tie together. I have no other qualms with your build. Looking forward to more!!!!!

looking amazing so far, the bio looks much better, take your time sanding carefully on the eye lens area, and take pics to compare, so they look the same on each side, take care

thanks bro! It's coming together. Yeah the eyes still need to be fixed a bit. I'll get em straitened out before I weather everything. Thanks again for the tips!

Not a machine, Just a really obsessed builder. lol I would love for this thread to be a sticky once it's finished. I have a lot of progress pics for various parts that didn't get posted. I plan on adding them when I finish the suit. I'm sure it would help someone down the line.

Yes the flaps were too long. I trimmed them up, Still might take another inch or so off. you can see them in the pics below. The I'm still on the fence aswell with the black leather. After the mock up I did today I'm warming up to the idea of black.

I'm not sure If I like the metallic bronze/silver/peridot Combo I have going. The pictures don't do it justice, There is way more green metallic than the pictures show. Should I keep it like this or go with the silver/gunmetal look like KitHunter's suit in the header of the site? IDK!! I think I'm going to end up weathering this color first and making a decision from there.

Here's some pics of the new paint color on the suit.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions! (y)

I think the armor color works great with the green tones of your skins. Only thing would be heavily weather it down with blackwash or the like, to give it that beat up "space armor" look.

The funny thing is, as you were typing that, I was mixing up some blackwash to start weathering it. o_O I'll post the pics tomorrow after I spray the satin clear coat over it to seal and quasi-waterproof it.. I'm going with the satin finish so that the weathering doesn't looks all glossy. I think it would kill the effect of the weathering I just did. I also started on the shin guards too. Going the foam/sintra route I think. Thanks for the suggestion man! Tomorrow you'll see it was a great one. (y)

Looks realy nice bud, i like the green tones! Keep those pics coming! (y)

Thanks bud! Also thanks for the tips through PM, I still gotta go over those spots again. :D

Here's some pics of the weathering. The color changes pretty drastically after I washed over it all with a 2-3 coats of black. It also really brought out the glyphs once the black started accumulating around it. The green metallic is still there, it's just hard as hell to get a good picture of it.

That is some pretty awesome work you got going there. The weather details are coming through nicely. Loving the gauntlet idea you have come up with there nice. Are you going to add some blast marks in to places on the armour?

Also, I found quite a effective and to make more 3D(ish), if you weather in darker (shadowed) areas and around the edges of each armour piece then blended out into the piece. Make sure that you make each weathered armour piece different (even if they are part of one piece of armour i.e. the shoulder bells)

Just my to cents, but worked well for me. Hope this helps

Thanks man! I'm pretty happy with the results. The gauntlets are coming along. I wanted to personalize my pred abit more so I just decided to sculpt them with the rest of the apoxy sculpt I had and came up with those. The bad thing about apoxy sculpt is, I can't let it sit for a few days and go back and make changes. It's kinda a "one shot johnny". It's a good thing in college I took 2 years of Ceramics and had to work fast to get projects in on time. I think my next sculpt is going to be done with some Chavant medium, that way I can sit back and take my time and make what ever I sculpt perfect. Then just mold it.

Side note: I ordered some el strips and pads to backlight the bomb gauntlet. :)

I was fine tuning the bio tonight and did as you suggested around the eyes. It came out pretty cool looking, Thanks for the tip man! (y) I'll get some pics up after I get the lens in.

No probs man,

I am sculpting my pred head at the moment using Chavant meduim nsp. Good stuff to work with but a still learning how to use it properly (if there is a way of dong it properly lol). Looking forward to your next update.

Just checked out your thread, Great work so far! With clay just do what works best for you and if you mess up you can always fix it.

Update:

Almost finished with the shin guards, I ended up going straight craft foam and plastidip. They came out looking pretty damn close to some latex ones I've seen. I need to better color match the paint and touch up some areas. Tomorrow I'm going to the flea market to pick up some zippers to attach to the back seam of the shin guards.

Not too shabby. :)

I also added a Chrome lens to the bio after I cleaned out around the eyes and touched up some paint abit. The chrome lens is made from a piece of mirror window tint I wet installed on a small sheet of clear plastic. I can see pretty good through it.

Still working on the targeting area. Lasers and EL lighting should be in soon

Thanks man! I'm gonna see what other tint coatings I can dig up and maybe do a run of various tinted sheets for Bio lenses. Just an idea. The chrome came out nice but I'm going to try and track down some green tinted chrome to put in there.

Nice one with the lens tint on that bio. You could added some mesh over the top, that could really make it 'pop'. Gotta get hold of some chrome/window tint

Happy New Years Hunters! I started some of the little things I've been meaning to do to parts here and there while I wait for the feet and dreads. First I prepped the bomb gauntlet for the EL strips and display plate. Looks like there is plenty of room in there for the EL strips and sheet. gotta weather the white edges before I get the display installed.

Here's a shot of the back. The color is off on the spine track..but I kinda like the contrast thats going on there. Definitely going to need a backpack to carry the battery pack for the Lasers and Bomb gauntlet lighting. I need to do something with the back where the butt plate meets the spine plate..It just doesn't look right. maybe some trophies or something of the like would do the trick.

These are those pouch looking things(help me out here) on the front of the belt. I made them out of some scrap foam, sintra and the plastic mold pieces I saved from my kids Kitchen I put together for Xmas.

As suggested by Hunter-Hunted, Peridot mesh over the mirror tint lens. Looks pretty cool to me! Just need to fine tune it and glue it all together.

That bio visor is looking awesome, see what I mean by it will set it off and make it 'pop' :)

Interested to see where you are going with the gauntlet. In the middle of doing my gauntlet revamp but at a stand still as sculpt has taken over lol

This is really moving along swimmingly.... keep it up!

Thanks man! The thing is...I think its a bit too small. arrggg. I'm pepping another one tomorrow. :D Plus a backpack. Today I reworked the scaling and unfolds( I hate small pieces) of the files I pulled off of movieman's thread here on the lair. Tomorrow I'm going to start on the pep file after I take care of some marketplace commitments ;) . Keep up the good work on the sculpt man! Sorry I haven't commented much on the thread, it's really looking great!

Update:
Last night and Today I worked on the leather strapping a little, retouched some color on the belt pouches and made the studs that cover the poprivets on the leather straps. I also slipped the shin guards on. :D Enough talk here's the pics.

Made this out of an old leather belt and a cool looking chain a friend gave me.

Hopefully the feet will arrive tomorrow. and I can get those squared away.

Thanks for looking guys!

I like how in that one pic the spine armor was a different shade then the rest. You are right, it does create nice contrast.

Looks great. An idea about the spine plate. What about trimming off the last few sections so it stops just above the belt? You might be able to pivot at the waist better if it isn't tucked into your belt. Just a thought. Love your work! Is this stickied yet?
