Quakevirus Predator Build Wip - Suit Up Pics And Video Pg 8

That area is still an issue, I have 2 plates cut and painted so I'll try out cutting it abit shorter. Tossing the idea around of redoing them all together.

Nice little update

The feet came in from Casey (Biohunter76) and they look awesome! I went a head and painted them up last night, I printed out the pep files for a cannon, backpack and new larger bio. I also cut the vinyl decal for my gauntlet display. Dreads were shipped out to me today. Thanks Corey(Termokk)!!! Oh yeah I picked up some different leather belts at the thrift store to try out in different places. I also found a fake gator skin belt there too I swapped out with the old belt. Looks way better I think.

Enough talk, here's some pics. I gotta bio to finish pepping..Halfway done now.

Bicept plate strap. AKA $2 belt.

Thanks for looking guys! (y)

Awesome. The belts look good with your suit. Make sure to put some platforming inside the feet, as much as possible at least. ;)

Thanks! It was a lucky find at the thrift store. platforming the feet is definitely on the long long list of things still to do. (y)

This is looking amazing man!

Thanks man! It's coming along, you just reminded me I need to update the RPF thread lol. My brain has been all over the place.

I don't think this thread is getting enough love over there. I deserves more. It gives people a good insight on putting it together.

I'll update it tomorrow when I update this thread. I just finished pepping out another bio....at the correct scale and I'm going to try and start sanding on it tomorrow. After that I'm going to do the backpack and plasma cannon. This one fits Termokk's Mask damn near perfect. Tomorrow the RPF will get much love. (y)

Hey man, great update on the leather belts - looking awesome. I thinks I might have to exchange my velcro-straps for some :)

Like the bomb computer screen, still working on mine but was thinking of doing the same as you, great minds

Nice one, looking forward to your next update man, your flying with this thing

I just bought two packs (four sheets in each) of the interlocking foam floor tiles at Harbor Freight for $10 a pack.

WOW!!! I missed this thread completely.

That is an amazing job. Very well put together and it looks pretty damned solid too.

Thanks man! The thrift store is the best place to find already weathred leather goods. I look for the longest belts they have, that way I get more leather (y)

Is there a "standard" size for countdown panel? I'd for sure do a run of those. The EL and trilaser stuff should be here really soon. I'll get started on that once it does.

Those tiles are great!! Use a heat gun to shape bends and curves. You can can also draw some detail into it with a ball point pin. do a few passes and you'll have a nice little groove in the foam. (y)

Thanks man! It's built like a brick ****-house no doubt! I'm pretty sure I'll be able to break dance in this suit when I'm done ;)

Update for today.

Busy day with the "real" work today. I finished up the New helmet bio pep last night. When I had the time I hardened the pep with some smooth on rotocast (aka 65d) and started smoothing it out.

Sanded down the resin abit (backpack pep trash in the background ;) )
IMG_20120105_152057-1.jpg

After two rounds of bondo and 1 round of primer. Still abit of work to do.
IMG_20120105_215016-1.jpg

Face portion fits perfectly
IMG_0689.jpg

The inside of the crown and the temple area needs to be trimmed out alittle so it sits flat with the crown of the mask.
IMG_0690.jpg

That's all I got for today. Hopefully the dread come in tomorrow or the nextday and I can get going on those. I'll have the back pack pep assembled by tomorrow.

Thanks for looking, commenting and suggesting. (y)

watch out when you test fit your bio, i got my mask scratched on some places because the fiberglass was too rough on some areas

Thanks for the heads up man! I hardened mine with some casting resin instead of fiberglass. Nice and smooooth on the inside. ;)

Hey Jon,

That bio is looking pretty sweet. I would round your edges on it a lil more so it doesn't look so sharp i.e. around the cheek and snout area. Also around the edge of the whole bio (so as not to scratch your under mask :)) just my 2 cents.

As for the bomb computer size, I think that the average is about 7 inch X 4 inch max but depends on the size of the persons forearm. So i guess, that the count down panel would have to fit inside that measurement.

Thanks for the tips man. The bio isn't at all finished yet, I still have maybe a couple more hours work on it be for I can go to paint with it. I worked on it abit more today, no pics yet. It's looking better and better. I definitely will have something in there to protect the mask. (y)

I would just need the individual countdown box measurments including the spacing inbetween the boxes. that way I can scale the characters and make sure the spacing is correct there. After that I can just make the black box about 6x9 or something like that. That way we could just cut them down to the right size to black out the back light.

Update:

Finished pepping the Bacpack and Cannon, also got some EL tape in today.

backpack with a lil bondo on it aready, Cannon has been slushed with smooth on. I had to make a hole on the bottom of it to pour it in. Little strip of EL Tape in the back ground. :D Yes that is my first bio sliced in half on the far right. Will make a great set of bookends.

Thanks for looking hunters!

Back packs from the movie man files? I'm thinking about the same. What's your first hand pression of the finished article?
Thanks mate.

Nice work man, coming along nicely. I thought about making a half and half bio for 'book ends' but would have probably ended up as DVD ends lol

Seen other movieman pep builds and always thought that the canon looked 'oversized' but yours actually looks the right size. Nice one.

Gotta get started on my armour again soon, just getting carried away with the sculpting lol I receive my plexi-glass for my gauntlet blade mechanism which I can now get cut up and start (slowly) working on the gauntlet :)

Yes they are from movie mans files. It's the on labeled PredatorBackPackCorrectScale.pdo . The file was great. Scale was good. I touched up the unfold a bit and I left that little wing thing off off it. all and all, a great base for some bondo and sintra. The Bio file I touched up the unfold alot(basically combined alot of small pieces and and other various parts.)

Bookends most likely will be in the works. The wife likes to read paper. Hell at the scale that first mask was at, It would make a better set of DVD ends. lol

The cannon scale was great right out of the file. I think the .Zip containing the pdos might have came from Made007, it's possible he rescaled the files. I did have to scale up the bio file. I have PDF's of the files in letter for easy printing. PM me and I'll get them to you :D

Back pack and canon are looking great!

Thanks man! PM replied to. (y)

Update:

Dreads arrived today!! Also started playing with the EL tape. I need to get a red EL pad like I originally ordered but.... gotta figure out why they haven't ran my card or sent it yet.

Picture makes it look pink..I assure you it is not.

Just thought this was a cool pic.

Link to a vid hope it works. I think the camera makes it strobe weird. It flashes normally to the naked eye.

Cool,

Now I see what you where getting at lol thats an awesome idea you have come up with there. Where did you get the EL strips from? And have you got a picture of them in the daylight?

Nice work again my friend, you never cease to amaze.

yeahhh. I wish they would have gotten the EL pad for the countdown. oh well it'll work until an upgrade. The site is ellumiglow.com. Keep in mind the super small power supply doesnt have enough juice to give it a good bright glow.

Ill get a pic tomorrow of the Countdown panel in daylight..

As for now..how about some dreads. :D

I'm training them right now(not in the pic), I need to get some beads on there to weigh them down so they flow nice. Right now it looks like he's having a bad dread day.lol
