Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weaponry!

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

My first master mold! Came out great! I will have to pour some 320-321 later to see how that process goes!:)

Here is my first full set of nuts for the War Machine shoulder bells! A smashing success!:lol:thumbsup

I am still messing with the tint as I don't want the parts to be white under the paint. That way if the paint chips....which I know it will....there is something other than pure Storm Trooper white under the armor...

The gray one with all the bubbles was the first cast and with it, I learned to pour out my 320 into larger cups and let the air bubbles settle out before pouring into smaller mixing cups!:)
Some bubbles after mixing the jugs and pouring for measuring ruined the first one..:$
Also, if as you pour/fill the mold you do it gradually and tap the mold to get the bubbles to rise out.. so, fill, tap, fill, tap, fill, tap made a perfect cast with no bubbles. This is when I want a vacuum chamber.

The light gray one (first) was 2 drops, the grayer ones were 5 drops of pigment and the almost black were 6 drops... They warned me not to go too heavy on the pigment as it will alter the outcome badly if over used.

What is cool, is that under my white parts I'll put in one drop to get a metal grey, might even shoot for that under the whole armor.....metal so that when it chips it will look like battle damage with metal showing..:cool

Good first effort...David, yours are next!

That´s so cool!!!

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Make sure you mix by weight with that shell shock Michael, I know it says you can by volume but if your measurments are off it sets up to a unbrushable mess really quick, which is easy to do if you measure by volume. Use a spackling method with your brush to apply the first layer to avoid air bubbles.

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

I appreciate the heads up...This stuff is so thick, I really struggled to get the bell evenly skinned...with the shell shock. I have yet to glass the interior. I mixed Sil-Pig black into it and it came out ultra shiny. Im a little concerned with the edges as they seem kind of brittle... It is getting the blasted stuff to coat evenly and not pool that is a killer.

Ya i was going to use it to make my helms with it but switched as it was setting up way to fast on me, gonna stick to using it to make support shells. If you want to brush in your layers , pick up some smooth cast resin and urefil 3. I am loving the Onyx (slow)

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

You going to send me a set of those? Lol

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Note to self... Shell Shock not the best product for my shoulder bells... It literally exploded into hundreds of minute fragments and a few bigger ones when I was trying to demold it. Way to brittle... back to the drawing board.:popcorn
You can also see where it started curing, then dragged as I was applying...onto smooth on 320 and epoximite!

Good thing I have some other products to try! Thank you Matt for giving me better ideas and application procedures for the next shot! That one will turn the trick! Very excited about the next trial!:)
