Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

these have me curious! Especially since I won't be able to afford and wouldn't spend that kind of money on the real shoes anyway. Wonder when these will come up for sale and if that Karen will have them?

Don't hold your breath for these coming out of China. They still have not given us a rep better than the V2 and given how easy the lights break on both the V2 and HC, I can only imagine what problems there will be with "power laces".

Think it was just a single person who designed these themselves then and not an actually company looking to sell these? Sure would be nice if someone or some company offered these shoes or even the V2's to the general public at an affordable price that would actually last under normal wear for those of us who have never messed with or know anything about electronics or sewing.

See that is the problem right there - normal wear. If you had power laces, would you only activate them when you put them on and take them off? I doubt it. Every time someone sees my shoes, they ask if they power lace, to which I respond, "no and the hover board doesn't hover either".

NIKE's Power Laces come out next year and a premium price. There mechanics are simpler than this example. One of the biggest problems with straps running through a shoe is friction. That causes more wear and tear than the load on the motors. And what happens when they fail? The world as they know it comes to an end for some people when a light goes out. Imaging the grief if a motor fails?

As cool as Power Lacing is, the idea is not for the masses and you are only inviting trouble wanting them to be real.

I'd settle for an affordable pair of the older ones they auctioned off or the V2's that are to the general public at an affordable price that would actually last under normal wear for those of us who have never messed with or know anything about electronics or sewing or anything else. Those of us who lack the skills and knowledge to even begin doing these ourselves. I personally don't care about power laces. I'd just like a nice pair of light ups that I could actually afford and wear without the lights going bad after 2-3 days of wear.

As in the 2011 NIKE MAGs? Wouldn't we all?

You can get V2s from $200 now.

These are mass produced for the least amount. The factories that makes these were not contracted by a western company like NIKE, so there is no real QC on them. Even a fully modded shoe is prone to break eventually. The fact is, walking, running, jumping and even driving a car places untold stresses on the shoes (and the electronics within) and even the best wiring will break eventually.

As for skills in modding, everyone of us that has done this learned (self taught) by reading, watching and sharing ideas. There is no "mod school" to go to. And yes, the chances of messing them up high. I have done things to my shoes that wish I did not now, but too late, there forever now. Other things are awesome and I wish I could go back and re-do to make them even better.

For others wondering about Gogoyeezy and the possibility of a shared 'buy-in' to test how good these supposed new MAGs are going to be, I got an update on my parcel, it's been transferred to Australia Post as "in transit." A couple of weeks travel time, it seems. So far, looks like gogoyeezy is above board (as much as a replica company can be, haha)

So we should see what exactly they sent soon?

Yep, if this little order of Air Force 1 replicas arrives from gogoyeezy, I have more hope that the new MAGs will arrive from them if we can do that shared buy-in. But first, gotta find somewhere that won't just take your money and run off into the sunset laughing. Not with $700, oh no. That's why I just ordered one cheap item as a test. I haven't been ripped off by any site yet, but I'm cautious that there's always a first time....

Here's my dilemma:

I've been lurking these boards for awhile doing my research before placing an order with Karen Chen for a size 8.5 (1 size down) pair of Mags. On Tuesday, I reached out to her asking if she had any US8.5 pairs in stock and to send me photos of the pair I would be receiving to ensure that they have the correct branding on the shoe. She replied very quickly with photos. I then sent my payment that day. She said she would have them out in a day or two. On Thursday morning, the order is displayed as shipped and includes an EMS tracking number. The tracking number is invalid.

This morning she sends me the following message:
Karin Chen: Really sorry. The pair of mag size US 8.5 you ordered we still haven't shipped out yet.Because this size just have several pairs left and the light not working,so we are unable to ship your shoes out yet.So can you wait several days?Once we get size US 8.5 in stock again,I will send out.

I'm getting a little nervous now.

She's very helpful & when they were out of stock in the size I ordered, she offered a refund or I could wait until they were back in stock. In the end I took a refund which she promptly issued. I'm sure you'll be fine but email her with how you'd like to progress & im sure she'll sort it out.

Maybe you could negociate a better price with failed electronics.
I mean, it could be interesting to have low price V2s if you're about to mod them and replace the electronics (that will fail after few wearings anyway).
That's my opinion

Just messaged her.

Karin Chen: We won't sell defective shoes. We will get the shoes within 2 days and then send out.Sorry for a little delaying.

Was worth a shot, I suppose. ;)

yeah, if you're going to rip the lights out anyway, why not?! I'd order a broken lights pair if it was say, $100-$150. Would be a good trial for that all-EL system Cavx was doing.

I'm having issues trying to track my V2s from Karin. Bout to message her now and see if she can tell me where they're at, their is an EMS tracking number but that's been in China for over a week already. Is this normal?!

When did you buy them? It is not normal, but I have seen posts about one parcel that basically did a tour of China and took about 6 weeks to reach its destination. In the end, tracking is upto the people processing the package to scan it in. It they don't, the tracking is not updated.

Doesn't EMS only track within China? Once it's left the country I think will only show the last location, as it would've been handed over to another postal service with which the EMS tracking information is not applicable. It could've about to arrive with you tomorrow but still show that it's in China for example.
