Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

Slightly off topic but on-topic... I was having a quick look on Instagram & found that someone had posted a photo of these original screen-used Mags. I remember a little while ago having a debate with someone as to what size Michael J Fox's shoes were because I took a photo of his 'Bruins' in Universal's Offices & they clearly have '7' printed in the neck.

Interestingly, in the attached photo of these Mags you can see '7' printed in the neck also, where the triangular finger hole is, which is something I've never seen before. Also, I'm not sure if it's due to age & the leather is just deteriorating, but the white upper material around the top of the shoe looks more to be a soft towel type material rather than the same leather used to the strap. Thoughts?

Still got the screw through the sole that was used to hold the hoverboard to them I presume!

I never noticed that before, all the photos I've seen of the screen used Mags I've seen have been quite low quality. I really like the original material but makes sense to use consistent materials.

@Risu So the LEDs on both the sole and heel ran all that time?

The ones on the bubble crapped out earlier on. The sole lights remained on. Even then, it's at least 2 LEDs being powered by a battery that should only be able to run them for maybe 10 hours.

Not sure where you got your info from but they were either a leather or fake leather. PLUS the numbers inside the MAG's are not sizes but placement markers for the stitching.

The screen used shoes were all leather.
That picture is of a really bad condition screen used piece.

That's why the leather is so dirty.

The 2011 version is an actual wearable shoe.

The screen used versions were obviously only meant for a few wears and nothing more, hence why they used lightweight midsole foam rather than strong rubber for the entire soles, then just painted over them with textured paint.

I am going to suggest the finish in the leatheret is just breaking down. The cuff, tongue and strap would have all been made from the same stuff.

Note the screw that held this shoe to the hoverboard is still there.
Notice there is also stitching to attach the tongue.

Yeah. This one shoe looks like it's rotting!

Probably the screw in the sole damaged it and over time it's not been stored very well.

Back in 1989, the urethane NIKE used for the mid-soles of their shoes only had a shelf life or about 5 years. The exact same thing happened to my NIKE AIR PRESSURE where one day (I bought them in 1990) the whole cuff part just broke apart in my hands as I was about to put them on. The stuff just crumbled. If I had known anything at all about the attention these shoes would get later, I would have bagged them that day and not binned them.

Here is the origin or that screw.

I've never seen those pictures before! Nice one Fyfe! You can quite clearly see that it was leatherette used for the cuffs.

Out all the pairs of NIKE shoes I have had over the years, they were one of the best pairs - both for comfort and technical gadgets. I think lacing system was the best thing NIKE ever did, yet you don't see that on too many shoes.

I got my money out of them, wearing them everywhere for a good (and hard) 5 years. If they were to retro any other late '80s or early '90s, they should bring them back including the uber cool clear plastic case.

Looks like the screws are in two different locations so they must have screwed down more than one pair. A shame they ruined so many.

im still working on my v2s i redid the soles the v2s rubber is different than the hc shoe the paint cracked immediately so im using angelus now, still need to do splatter on both shoes. heres a pic of one shoe with my (almost) finished hc board.
