Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

This steam method (just to clarify) you hold the shoe above the iron let the steam go into the toe area for a few mins then just press down and form the slim toe look? If not can anyone please describe. Thank you :)

I actually did mine the other way round where the shoe is on the ironing board and the steam shoots down from the base of the iron. The tricks are to NOT touch the iron to the fabric or you will end up with a burn mark on the toe (and I did on my left US9.5) and to make sure you DO have something inside the shoe to hold the new shape. I was supposed to build a pair of "lasts" out of eva foam but never got around to it.

There seems to be a rubberized material in between the two layers of fabric and the steam softens that up very quickly so whilst you can re-heat this should you get it wrong, it does wrinkle fast if there is nothing for it to take the shape of.

I found a rolled sock to work a treat and it was forces in hard for the US8 pair and made the toe take on a "bullet" shape. Whilst this looks good on the smaller shoe, it tended to bulge somewhat on the US9.5 pair, so I flattened the sock and let the toe sag pressing it out with my thumb.

Not on my phone as working away at the mo , so only got a few that where stored already , had to have a new tongue as find the normal one a little small , so I had a old pair of supra society high tops laying around so I cut the tongue out and slid over the mag tongue and then sewed it on

Really? I thought that was a custom made tongue. I honestly thought who ever made that did the straps too.

I was looking at doing the tongues then I found my supra that I hadn't worn in ages and was perfect length etc and hey presto :0) and I done the straps , they are £2 belts from eBay , I just added the Velcro to it , and made a double strap like what come on supras, and all I done was cut it for the nike el sheet and run the wire along Velcro which holds the wire in place

Thanks for the detailed description Cavx, big thanks!

No probs, glad it made sense. I did want to capture it on a video, but didn't have an assistant to hold the camera.

Cool. Shame about the stitch holes on the straps, though they do match the tongue.

so....... FINALLY they arrived!!!,... only been over a month since the order with my "friend" karin!... ( nightmare ).. so heres the update,... even though on the very first conversation between me and her she agreed to label the package $15 shoes gift,.... they arrived and i got charged another £21,.... why?... because she labelled it $30 shoes gift.. ( sigh),.... but whatever... its done and i know to avoid her a seller in future lol

so i rushed to the depot and collected them this morning.... and i think i roughly tried them on once,... turned them on a couple of times.... and then promptly ripped them apart haha!

photo.JPGphoto 2.JPGphoto 1.JPGphoto 3.JPG
the first shot is just the standard workboot toe,.... i sorted this promptly with the steam method,.. perfect!... and then straight onto pulling the soles off and cutting EL,... i still need to sort the logo bit out and as i dont have a lazer printer to hand im a bit stuck right now! ha,...

got a lot done for day 1 though, and everything is in place for finishing once i get the last few bits,..

think i will order a half size bigger though for the next pair, as they come up snug and i think id prefer to be a little bit loose,.... pretty sure im going to have to buy some new strap material as mine are really small!,... can hardly do them up with my foot in?... anyone else had this?...

on another note... the EL when it shines through the sole gets turned greeny, where as the strap stays more aqua blue... any thoughts on how i can "tint" this?... its not major but i noticed it more through camera than by eye...

Do they now have glow in the dark strap logos?

Did you replace the wiring to the soles or just use the existing?

If you did replace it, how did you get through to the ankle bubble?

sorry i was mid editing the post with more info lol..... the last picture is how they sit pretty much now.. although i have trimmed the inside out more to fit the 9V battery and inverter snug,... ( god bless you dremmel! )....

currently i have the EL's running into a 9v inverter which goes into a switch ( yet to be located), then splits into the sole EL and up through the back hole to the strap EL...

i am using the standard circuit for the LED's for the moment so you have to currently push 2 switches to turn all the lights on.... i will be sorting this shortly!

main thing next is the Logo for the strap so i can seal it up and make good, as the other bits are just final fix type stuff!,....

Hi cavx, thanks for your reply on the previous page. I think I'm going to go the cutting route. I wasn't even aware of the steaming route!

What I would say is happening is that the yellowing sole is acting as a colour filter and biasing the CYAN towards YELLOW. This tends to make it look more greenish as it shifts (see the CIE diagram below). There is a couple of things that you could do -
1. Change out the yellowing rubber for a new clear sole.
2. Change out the CYAN EL for BLUE (in the sole only)
3. Add a BLUE filter to help shift the colour of the light back to CYAN

No probs. Good luck with the toe mod. Just something I am not prepared to do myself, and so glad the steam reform method was posted.

I didn't want to cut and slice mine , as don't want to muck them
Up I went for the steam method and think the results are good , here's View attachment 304149 mine when I was half way thru my mod ,

Nice! That replacement tongue from the Supras looks cool! I wonder how much replica Supra's are...... ;) That'll be a lot less trouble than sewing my own tongues from scratch (which I still haven't gotten around to)

There used to be a translucent blue paint you could buy from 'Toyworld' which was perfect for painting the insides of warp nacelles on Federation starship models. A thin coat of this on the inside of the sole sides may solve the problem. Has anyone tried anything like this? I'm not sure if the rubber will react with that type of paint, so you'd be best trying it on a small spot on the underside of the clear sole before you do the whole window (just to be careful).

Which model Supra are the one he used? The ones I found on Google seem to be about $250/pair which is a bit much to chop up just for a tongue. I did like the black SKYTOP IV though :)

I am getting slightly concerned about my order from Karin Chen as it was dispatched last week and the tracking number she gave me still does not show up on the EMS website after nearly 3-4 days. Anybody else experience this?

There have been a few reports of late where the tracking number does not show up for a few days. Just keep an eye on it. Sometimes it can take 3 days just to process the order.

Hi the tongue fits like a glove , think I paid bout £25 from eBay for them wore then few times , the inner sole was ****e in them , it gives you the longer tongue that the mag replicas don't have , as for karin I had nightmare ordering from her , the number would work then not lol had to keep checking on different ems sites , took 25+ days to get to me in uk , ImageUploadedByTapatalk1396254423.599084.jpg
