Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

nike makes all their stuff in china anyway, this is just bypassing the middleman really. im ok with it, and im a nike collector of sorts.

600 for 95% accuracy or 6,000 for 100% accuracy? seems like a no-brainer choice to me.

And Nike could have released thousands of these shoes for $500 and still made tons of cash. The decision-makers at the top, though, are millionaires themselves. So which mindset do they have: one that encourages exclusivity of the shoes, to be affordable by only 1% of the population, or mass-producing them at 1/10th the price to allow enjoyment by a much wider purchasing audience? I guarantee you if the decision was made by the Nike employees lower in the ranks, it would have been priced and marketed differently.

There is no indication in BTTF II that Marty and Jennifer, or their kids, could afford $5000 shoes. The shoes were intended to simply be modern sport shoes. BTTF 2015 Nike was a company that still created sport shoes affordable by the masses, though priced a bit higher than the competition. Real-world 2015 Nike ended up being a greedy beast that decided to make these iconic shoes affordable by celebrities and those normal folk willing to place their marriage in jeopardy by buying a set of $5000 shoes.

Imagine if USA Today had made only 1500 sets of the 2015 papers, and they were priced at $200 each. Instead, they put them on every set of papers they printed that day, and every fan had a shot to get one. They even had Bob Gale fill in missing/unseen bottom info with humorous filler articles. Nike was just too full of themselves to take an approach that allowed all fans to obtain their product.

So which mindset do they have

they don't care about us.

welcome to alternate 2016.

they just had to run off an extra page tho, its not quite the same. the pepsi perfects are a better analogy.

@Spyhunter2k maybe it's easier for Nike & their quality control team to review 1500 shoes versus hundreds of thousands of shoes? You have to figure that people would buy them, wear them, break the lights and then ask for their money back. Sounds like a losing proposition to me. They'd lose money trying to save face when the electronics go bad.

On the other hand, if they sell a thousand pairs with a high price tag, the odds are better that the people buying are collectors and will not wear them regularly, if at all. So it's not hard to believe that they wouldn't make them widely available even if it meant more money for the foundation.

Has anyone heard anything else about the actual 2016 Nike Power Laced version? I saw the video of Micheal J. Fox trying on the power laced pair late last year, and it seemed as though they were supposed to be released Spring 2016...but haven't heard a thing about them since that video. Does anyone know whats going on with that?

I'm more on the sneaker head side of things and my friends who I told I bought rep mags are acting all uppity about it like "I would never buy fake mags". Welp good luck getting your hands on a real pair lol I'll gladly take my 97% accurate pair lol soon they'll all be wearing the fakes just like they all wore the hideous (in my opinion) HC's just cuz it was "licensed"

Just because a product is "licensed" does not make it good. Just look at all the BTTF props - The Lenticular hat, the Matel Hover Board, the Pepsi Perfect bottle, the Flux Capacitor, and Mr Fusion. All cool to have, but none are screen accurate.

I think there was some confusion over this. They made one pair of NIKE MAGs for MJF and that was really about jogging people's memory back to 1989 film. The actual power laced shoes they released were the EARLs, not a MAG. Like many things, I think we all read into it too much about there being a 2nd auction for these etc.

Well that sucks, a lot of shoe sites I looked at say they are to be auctioned off in 2016. I have no doubt someone will have some on here though sooner or later!

So here are a few pics of the V3's next to my modded V2's. The V3's are a US12 but fit much bigger than my US13 V2's. Interesting, because the midsole on the V3 is smaller than the V2, must be more room behind the heel cup.

i'd agree with that. When I did my Heel Cup mod on my V2s, I gained a heap of room. This was done by popping the heel cup out of the recess and gluing it over the back of the heel on the mid-sole. I gained a good half a size by doing this. The 2011 and these V3 MAGs have a bigger and deeper heel cup, so even at the same place, your foot would sit further back.

My shoes last shipping update was at Ohio customs. That was at 10:00 this morning. It's possible that they will be delivered today, but more likely it will be tomorrow. Unless they deliver them at a later than usual time. It's a 10 hour drive from the city in Ohio to where I'm at
dude! seems like its been ages!
you were the first to order and finally they will come. about damn time!
Let's hope you've got a good pair and they haven't messed you about.

Well we are only in July. When NIKE did the September 2011 sale, we didn't really know anything until a very short time before, so who knows, maybe they will do that again. If they do release them, these will not be affordable.

So basically we are paying just for the soles and uppers really if the lights are not even that bright.
bit of a bummer for $600.
Guess it will still need some DIY then.
At least the tongue is longer :)
My guess is the inverter is too weak. If it was a battery issue, then the LEDs would usually suck the most power. In this instance, the LEDs seem fully powered, as you are saying maybe over powered.
Only way to find out would be open up and disect.
Maybe a resistor might do the job.

A lot of money to throw down on a hunch. For those nervous about chopping up a $250USD pair of shoes...and these $600.

I found and have been communicating to a guy that actually went to designer school for shoes and the other day, found a product in my local Spotlight that might just hold the answer to how the uppers are put together. I am sort of keep to do some R&D here so if anyone thinks this is worth a new thread, let me know.

According to Nike's website:

Availability
The 2015 Nike Mag is a limited-edition release. It will only be available via auction, with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The specific details on the auctions will be posted to Nike News and via Twitter @nike in Spring 2016.

So it sounds like there will be an auction for power lacing Mags - not the Hyperadapt/Earl...not that I can afford them, but it does bring a bit of clarity to the whole discussion.

Unfortunately there's been no mention and Spring 2016 has already come and gone.
