Quick easy intro, I'm Lanith. I'm new to prop and costume making. So far I've completed one project a quickly made Scarecrow (Batman: Arkham Asylum) mask/glove set. It looked good, but barely survived the night. I've learned a few lessons and I'm keeping them in mind for my new projects.

I'm not a big convention attendee, but I volunteer at DragonCon so I get to spend a portion of my night out and seeing great work.

Re: >> New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! <<

I've always done homemade Halloween costumes, but nothing that amazing. I just want to increase my skill and learn more on this website. So not much posting will be coming from me, but I certainly will be reading ones. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm Nick and I'm based in the UK. I have been somewhat an armchair enthusiast for quite a while now and have often sketched out ideas but never got round to make anything. I found this forum as a result of watching a video on Tested with Adam Savage and from that my my interest has touched a new level. The trouble I have now is where to start!

Hi everyone,

Read a few posts on this site and decided to sign up. My names Will. I am from the UK and I work in the video game industry and a Technical UI Artist. I studied product design and art at college and University and am currently prop making as a hobby.

Hi, my name is Ivan, and I live in Hong Kong. I've just started exploring the realm of costuming and cosplaying, and I hope to learn more about the hobby.

Hi everyone,

my name's Acácio, and I'm from Portugal.
I came to this place after discovering Pepakura, and when I saw what people is doing with that and other techniques, some plans started to unfold in my mind.
As I have a small kid, who's discovering the Star Wars and Tolkien worlds, I'm going to start to create some costumes for him, and of course for me.
Right now, I'm a newbie on this stuff, and with lot's and lot's to learn from all of you.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

My name is Alexandre (you can pronounce Alexander) and i am from Brazil.
I know the RPF for a long time but it took me also a long time to get the courage to register.
I am a fan of prop makers and i am one also (but as a hobby). I've made some props for cosplayers and for some theatrical plays.
Today i got involved with a lot of Steampunk and Victorian groups here.

Hi, I'm Rob from the UK. I've always loved films especially sci-fi & fantasy (Star Wars, LOTR, Matrix Trilogy....) but only recently getting into props. Actually inspired by Adam Savage's videos on Tested.com, really admired the level of detail he goes to in both research and building. After a few internet searches I came across this site and decided to join. Unfortunately I have very little skill in terms of building/craft etc so starting off small and will hopefully gain some skills with experience. I have already completed a Tusken Raider mask/headpiece (hence the handle) and now looking for a new project. Thinking of trying my hand at pepakura (maybe a storm trooper helmet). Hope to learn from everyone on here and will be open with everyone else should they want any advice/info from me.

Hey everyone, my name is Tim and I am from New Jersey. Recent college graduate, working to pay the bills, and now I am exploring new hobbies. I found this site a while back but was never active as I due to time and being new to the prop making scene. I'm a big MMPR, Star Wars, Halo, Marvel, and DC fan and I want to tackle a MMPR Green Ranger helmet as my first project. Look forward to learning from everyone here. Please reach out if you have any tips for someone new to the hobby.

Hi All,

I have just re-joined here as I forgot my previous login. Anyway, I have been a member of the 501st costuming for a few years, but illness forced me to stop, I have mainly Star Wars costumes and props, AT-AT driver, Stormtrooper & Biker Scout. I am trying to put together a BTTF marty costume at the moment and came here for help. Look forward to hearing from you all on this great forum

Steve

Hey everyone,

My name's Matt, and I'm from the UK. I started looking into cosplay and costume building after a friends birthday party, and this place quickly became my first stop for ideas. All I've done so far is a Deadpool costume (which I've nearly finished rebuilding because I didn't like how it came out) and an Edward Kenway costume from AC Black Flag, but I'm hoping to do a Nightwing costume next and after all the ideas I've gotten from this site I figured it was only right to set up an account and show people what I manage to come up with!

Anyway my main interests are Marvel, DC, Assassin's creed (or almost any other fantasy/adventure game) and LotR. Hopefully I'll have something worth posting soon.

Thanks for the all the inspiration!

Hi, just joined, I'm from the UK and have been scratchbuilding for a worryingly large number of years, mainly Doctor Who, Blakes 7 and Gerry Anderson related stuff.

I'm halo2304 (has nothing to do with the game) I'm big into guns and knives and only recently started having an interest in replicas and props. My interest started when I watched a bunch of YouTube videos of Adam Savage building stuff.
I joined because one of my favorite movies of all time is Leon The Professional and I'm looking for some specific information about some of the atypical props used.

Hi there,

Glad to be here! I'm not a builder myself, I simply don't have anything close to the skills necessary, but I love seeing what people have made. Replica props are my thing, especially Blake's 7. I own a Martin Bower replica bracelet, and my holy grail would be a replica Liberator gun, complete with holster so that it makes exactly the right sound when you remove/replace it :)

Greetings -- new to the RPF, but I've been a reader/watcher of threads for a while. I'm not a professional, but a hobbyist. I have two blogs that users of the RPF might be interested in.

This one builds a TARDIS model: http://tardis-model-planning.blogspot.com/

This one builds a replica of Captain America's Shield: http://shieldlab.blogspot.com/

I'm looking for clever fellow travelers to help improve my designs and techniques, and I hope that some will also find the stuff I build interesting or fun.

Hello! I've visited a few times before, after developing an interest in screen-accurate cosplay and stumbling upon Iron Man, Halo Spartan, Winter Soldier, and most recently, Star Lord builds happening here :)

I'm a powerlifter gradually transitioning to bodybuilding, so my sheer size is quite limiting. I want to work on and complete a Star Lord (GoTG) first of all. I'm currently unemployed, but looking to change that soon which will help with the expense of this hobby, and if all goes well I would see myself purchasing a 3D printer in the future.

Right now, if anyone could point me to a UK stockist for the Peter Quill Nerf guns, that doesn't want to rob me blind, that'd be great :lol

Hello all, I'm a small-time wasteland prop builder from the far southern reaches of Aus.

'Wasted Props' is a one-man workshop specialising in replicas of video game, fantasy, and real-world props.

I started making props when I was around the age of 10, Using old junk and scraps of wood and metal, I created a couple of crappy sparring lightsabres from star wars with blades made from old golf stick shafts. Battling for the greater good against my brothers. I then stepped up to an equally crappy Boba Fett suit and a few other home-made costumes and weapons.

A few years on, and I was building more realistic rifles and shotguns from the common scrap. Then I took a 6-7 year break.

Until just recently, the tools have been laying dormant until I came across the Fallout World. Falling in love with the post apocalyptic 1950s post nuclear war, it re-ignited the DIY demon inside me and has brought me to where I am now.

Since that first step into (the very basic world) of props, I've tried to expand my knowledge and skills, to hopefully down the track build sellable items. I hope that my work will help to inspire others to take the plunge and tackle some projects of their own.

If you like my work, become a fan! and find my page on facebook: www.facebook.com/WastedProps

Thanks for listening Chilllllllllllllllllllllllllllllldren.

(P.S. Here's a few of my current projects im undertaking... fully working pipboys, t45d power helmets, various weapons and objects and the iconic New Vegas sign, complete with flickering neon lights... enjoy, and PLEASE feel free to comment)

here's the latest shot of my personal favorite, the NV sign... I had it all wired up to a small PC PSU last night, but after i screwed it to the frame of the sign, I wasn't aware the screw had touched an internal component. so instead of powering it all on... it blew it to hell. :-(, I've since replaced it with a more suitable PSU ;-)

What an act to follow, WastedProps!

Hello all!

It is my very great pleasure to be part of this community. I've seen simply jaw-dropping work done, and just about every build I read gets my DIY motor runnin'! I'm a classic nerd, with roots in Star Wars, Bladerunner, and maybe some obscure sci-fi, but my heart lies in the modern epics: Mass Effect, Firefly, Skyrim, etc.

This forum is weapons-grade dynamite for my free time, and wallet, and I'm hoping that by the end, I have some cool props or costumes to show for it.
