I'm currently trying to learn how to make some awesome props! I've only read instructions on how to make certain things but haven't got around to trying anything yet and I'm also looking to buy as well.

Hi everyone. I'm in the thinking stage for a new Spider-Man costume and this seemed like a good place to get ideas and connect. I have a passable Spidey costume that I ordered for cheap on eBay several years ago, but I want to do something much more custom and impressive. I am debating between the "spend a lot of money" and the "spend a lot of time and frustration" options. I made a classic black and white symbiote version that turned out pretty well, but not as well as it could have. Now I am thinking I will do a black and red/classic version.

Hello, fringe folk here. I do sculpture, mold-making and replication on my job as well as at home. Love seeing the creative work of people on this site, but I'm not too interested in the whole movie franchise thing. Mostly I will lurk to see other artist's fabbing techniques that I might use for my own stuff, which is moving away from science (fossil replicas) and into fantasy (zombies and vampires and monsters, Oh my!) My b.g. is 8 years archaeology, 10 years museum exhibit preparation, 12+ years display arts, and currently 4 years with a company making medical trainers -- specifically, hyper-real cadavers. Kudos to all the talent I see on this site!

Hello guys,

My name is Taylor Sparrow, I am someone who has been attending conventions for a couple of years now but never got a chance to cosplay/suit up. After browsing for days, I stumbled upon this site/Forum flooded with amazing people and truly AMAZING talent. I have no experience in this domain but I want to get started! My main reason for joining is that I want to become like you guys :D

Please take care of me and teach me your ways. I want my first project to be TASM2 suit!

Hi All!

I'm MikeX. An artist from the Seattle area. I was directed to this site at the advisement of Notbob after we were talking and comparing notes about helmets we've built. He said this would be a great place to learn new tricks, network, and meet people.
I've recently moved to a small town in the mountains to be with my fiance and there isn't a whole lot of chances to nerd out with people up here. So I warn you that if you message me, I might talk your ear off. I am in the first half of my second year of making a go at being a full time artist. Recently my primary medium has been Bondo. I use so much, they have sent me thank you letters. And I geeked out and framed it and put it on my wall.
I try to stick to original designs but occasionally I Build props or toys for my own amusement or for commission pieces.
I'm working on a commission piece right now so I will do a WIP post as a way to jump int to the RPF pool with both feet.

Here is a couple examples of my original builds

Hi everybody! I've been meaning to join for some time now, and after someone told me they were pointed to my Etsy shop from here, I figured I should drop by and say hello!

I'm a long time cosplayer who recently moved to San Francisco from Texas. I love creating props, and bought a 3D printer for faster/nicer looking replications! I'm always working on new things, (right now lots of Spiderman Accessories!) and can't wait to start helping people on the RPF make things!
Examples of my work include Black Widow and X-men belt buckles, and Lady Loki horns! :)

Hello everyone.
I am Peer from Germany and I am reading in this forum for al longer time but now i have registered me because I want to be a part of this great community.
Kind regards,
Peer.

Hello!
I'm a long-time fan of SF and all things Gerry Anderson. I also have a weakness for replica props of all kinds. I think I have every sonic screwdriver variant ever made, including a custom hand-made model.

Hey guys. I don't build replicas but have always been interested in doing so. Definitely in the market for some in the near future so expect me to be in the junkyard quite a bit once I am eligible. I will be perusing the galleries and watching the WIPs. I am like a sponge so any tips you guys give in your projects, I will steal for a later project. Thanks in advance and great work that I've seen so far!

Hi RPF, I'm Fernando from Argentina, i've been lurking the forums for years now and started a few projects on my own twice, but never finished them (mostly Iron Man armors), Right now im working on an Iron Man Mark VII armor, and i'm in the resining process. I'm really glad to join the forums and I hope to make new friends and have fun. As i took many advices from here, I will try to do my best to help others with their problems, and answer any question. See ya around ^^.

Hey!
I'm new to RPF, I'm hoping to become a regular post-er. I have been getting into prop building and costume builds over the past year and half. It started when I wrote a short youtube movie for college with Batman in it, Dark Knight Rewinds. Of course I had to build a batsuit on a shoestring budget, but it needed to look decent as I am a huge Batman fan, he was my first comic when I was 8. I've been a comic fan ever since. Anyway, got a little resourceful and made the suit. Since then, I've made props for other people, and did a little weapons painting and modifications for other cosplayers costumes. All the while I've been wanting to improve my batsuit and expand into new costumes for myself as well. So, I hope to get to know a lot of you, and get better at this trade, and learn as much as I can so I can apply the knowledge for myself and others. Maybe pass on a tip or two. Hoping to do an additional batsuit, maybe an Adam West variation along with Arkham Asylum. Plus I've always wanted a Stormtrooper suit, Han Solo costume, and Spider-Man! So, lot's to learn, lots to do! Enuff talk. :)

My profile pic is the first build on my costume, and the pic below is with some recent new adaptations, new cowl/neck piece and replaced my bat symbol. I know it's rough, but it was mostly pieced together from what I could get as quick as possible. The second one to the right, below is another from the original build, at Mid-Ohio con last year. I can now turn my neck which is nice.

Hello,

My name is Jim, I go by the internet handle of Saxxon, or Saxxonknight when someone steals my name (hey, I was the original Saxxon back when Al-Gore invented the internet...). Or rather on MS internet gaming zone playing Age of Empires in the early-mid 90s.

I dabble in making unique stuff at times, or buy same. IE a suit of armor I made (I did the leathers, an SCA armorer did the metal) and bought parts of.

More recently I had this modern day civil war coat made (if you follow politics here in the US you would see we are heading for some kind of conflict due to the widening ideological schism between freedom and oppression). Its done to my specs, blue and grey and combines a cavalryman's great coat with a waxed cotton duster for a very heavy winter coat. The top & bottom capes are detached in this photo.

I actually stumbled across this sight while looking up the rifle used in Oblivion, looks like one of the members is doing a great job of creating one. I'd like to find a kit to convert an actual AR to look like the movie rifle. Like the costumes above, I have some investment in hardware that is heavily accessorized.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Andre, I am kinda new to prop making world, I have made small things but nothing of great detail.

I am into DC props as well as anything scifi. I'm also into Mythological props.
Big fan of God of War, the DC universe, and Harley Quinn.

I joined because i was told this was a great community of ppl who could help me get better at making props.

Hi everyone,Very new to the idea of prop making but since purchasing my first Ironman helmet am already planning to build a full suit. Whilst I am a massive fan of both Marvel and DC I thought it would be even nicer for my young son to one day be able to say, 'My dad is Ironman!'. Who wouldn't want Ironman to pick them up from the play ground hey - even better if it was in the Audi R8!Will be scouring the forums for the best tips from all the fantastic builders out there and genuinely hope one day to become as proficient as some already out there.Heres hoping!!Taff

Hey, the name's Thomas

I am an adamant spider-man fan. I have been following his comics since I was a little kid, and love anything related to him (Marvel). I've found cosplaying to be onr of the most exciting adventures having to do with my favorite hobby.

I've been looking up different ways to make suits and that led me to here. I plan on making several versions of different spiderman related suits during my stay and hope to meet a lot of cool people along the way.

Excelsior!
