Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **
Hello everyone! My name is Michael, and I am one of those odd birds - a Jack Sparrow costumer/impersonator. I've been donning the eye makeup and dreads for ten years as of the 18th of October (which is really crazy to think about). I am not someone who does a lot of heavy fabrication, or eve a ton of complicated sewing projects, but I do consider myself a costumer and a prop-maker in my own right. I am also a huge Lord of the Rings fan, and I love fantasy in general, so a lot of my costumes are in that vein. I perform at the local renaissance festival, and I am also slightly active in the local SCA chapter, so much of my work tends to be more historical in nature, but I do love making replica costumes as well.
Right now I'm gearing up for making a Bard the Bowman costume from the new Hobbit movie (I practice archery regularly, and I think I can pull off the look rather well), but there are dozens of other costumes I would love to put together in the future - if I ever find the time.
I have lurked around here a little for quite some time, but I avoided joining because, to be quite honest, this place is dangerous for me - both in terms of my spending too much money, and wasting too much time. Still, the issue of finding a good, inexpensive material to make Bard's coat out of has made my finally go ahead and sign up. Glad to finally be among the ranks of RPFers!
