Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all, delighted to have joined :) I'm Irish aged 44 and currently living and working in Amsterdam... I work as an aircraft engineer...discovered this site by hearing Adam Savage talking about it on Tested (youtube).... always built models as a kid... but then life happened... but aircraft are just big assembly kits any way...I'm a single Dad with a 10 yr old who's really getting into his modelling, science, movies, and games...and wished to encourage more creativity other than building lego kits... we've started with some pepekura and really enjoying it....but it's a learning curve.... but a fun (sometimes frustrating) one... he's very interested in gun replicas (dunno how to feel about that).... I'm working on Iron Man helmet..and am looking forward to being an active member of the site....

My name is Chris. I've been registered for a while but having not made much Ive just browsed from time to time trying to learn and get inspiration. I'm trying a rather challenging costume this year (by entry level standards) and hoping to get some advice from some veterans.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello. This summer is the first time I delved into prop making, an interest that spawned out of a combination of things including cosplay, my love for working with my hands, and Adam Savage on tested inspiring me to make stuff. I studied to be a photographer, and it's the hands-on stuff that I like about it; I prefer the darkroom to digital. I also tend to be more anal about fine details, making it hard for me accept anything less than perfect. I have no real experience making props of any kind, but I'm looking forward to getting good at it.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

hello everyone!
im DOMEPEACE(no pro yet i find them annoying). been browsing the RPF for about 2mo now and decided i should join. first off id like to give a big ol shout out to STEALTH, without him and his tutorials(of which i have seen 90%) i would not be building my classic MKIII as Stan Winston intended. if you havent already guessed this is my first foam project, and first wearable pepakura. next id like to give DANCINFOOL a big ol shout out because i will be using his design on the sole fact that his small parts are absolutely amazing! much props bro!! next i owe ZABANA a big ol shout out because i will be using some pieces of yours here and there, except for the calves(despite their realism they are a nightmare for foam conversion). now on to a reason for this post. i have a file containing mk3,mk4, and mk6 data in hd, and i do not know to whom the props are due, id like to give you credit if you can claim the work. after 6mo of training with pepakura i feel my skill is adequate to attempt a prototype ver1.0 of classic mk3. to further explain i will be adding animatronics to almost every piece of the outer shell driven by a ROBOTIS c-700 and an arm cortex A8. aside from the fact it is made from foam and scrap metal, has no added strength or weapons, and does not fly, this is very well an actual prototype. i have 20 years of experience with electronics, and believe foam is much easier than 3-D printing. i am quite excited to share this project where it will be appreciated. see you comicon 2014!!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, I am an Engineering Intern at an engine remanufacturing facility. I currently attend my local community college and plan on transferring up and getting a Mechanical Engineering degree. I deeply enjoy design, I create things in my mind on paper and on the computer, I have a friend who has a 3D printer (small desktop, Maker Bot) and we create parts to fix things or just for fun. My hobbies would include airsofting (competitive sport involving bb guns that shoot plastic pellets) as of now I primarily fix gas blow back airosft guns but I do still play I have done tech work for around 2 years and played for 3 years mainly CQB. I also am into tactical gear, from firearms to knives to clothes, as well as anything for my every day carry system. I joined this forum as I am interested in creating a power armor suit form my favorite game series Metroid. I plan on creating a Space Federation Trooper suit and thought it would help if I looked at what other people have done.

Thank you

Hi all,

I'm Schwazenegger movie prop collector/fan from Finland. Found this site some time ago when I was looking for Minigun parts for a Predator loadout. My main interestest is in Arnold movie replica props and busts, mostly Terminator and Predator.

Hello, my name is Patrick and I'm a vfx/prop artist working in the film industry.
I started out a while back making batman costumes, then got into the 501st. Shortly after I graduated from school studying visual effects and now make props for films and for fun. Nice to meet you all, cheers! Here's some of the stuff I made over the last several years:

Hello from down under. I stumbled across this site whilst looking for all things Dr Who. Was even more surprised to see that people can make these in their back yard. I have always been a keen modeller, mainly prepared kits purchased large and small but seeing this has given me a desire to create helms, busts etc. So hopefully I can contribute to this community and learn an awful lot.

Cheers

I've been lurking on the RPF for a while, since I heard about it at DragonCon. I've built several costumes over time (Jayne, Dr. Horrible, Commander Shepard, Steamship Pirate, and currently working on a Vault Dweller from Fallout).

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hullo. I've been lurking on sites like the 405th and here for quite some time and now I've finally taken the plunge into putting my hand into doing one. I've had a bad habit of not completing projects but hopefully I'll be inspired to finish it! :D

My first will be a Mk 42 (Well, yeah. lulz)

Hi, everyone!

My name is An. I'm from Canada. I enjoy building and creating things, whether it be digitally on the computer or physically. The main reason I joined was to learn about what goes into prop and costume making. I also hope to expand my knowledge base and learn a few things. I've been working on a costume kit on and off for the past two years, and I hope to make a few more things in future.

I mentioned before that I was working on a costume kit, the kit I worked on currently is a Republic Commando kit. As for props, I recently purchased a replica of Kensei's Sword from the show Heroes. (I hope to expand my collection by making my own props.)

I hope to learn a few things from everyone here.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all, I'm a Schwarzenegger movie fan from Finland, collecting replica props from Terminator and Predator. Might you have something related for sale, just send me a message.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I've been a lurker for a while, finally registered and posting. I'm a model builder and gadget maker in Houston. I'm an ex Firefighter/Paramedic who had to get out of the field and reinvented myself as a maker. If anyone is in Houston, feel free to drop me a line. I brew beer and moonshine at home and might have an addiction to bbq.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everybody! I've been looking into costuming and prop making for a while now, and figured this would be the best place to start. As a belly dancer, I see that most costumes are similar in design. Skirt, top, coin scarf. I'd like to break that mold and create pieces that are recognizable as both belly dance and cosplay ensembles.
Currently, I'm working on a basic Khaleesi costume for a show in the spring, and I'm eyeing the Pip-Boys here for a possible Fallout design.
Hoping to learn a lot,
Britani

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all.........Some of you may know me from other sites...looking forward to getting back into a few things as I have taken a 6 year break from costuming, comic collecting and cons in general.......I appreciate all the artists on whatever site I am on and am NOT afraid to compliment those that put there sweat and blood into this, whether it is as a hobby or a job. Hope my time here is taken as it is...a way to get knowledge into a hobby that I have come to love.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Ah, well, I just joined so I figure I'll introduce myself then.

I'm Lilly, though I'd definitely prefer to be called Jaxxik as I'm more comfortable with screen names than my actual name. I came across this site while looking for info on making a replica of Captain America's shield for an upcoming cosplay, girl Cap. I joined because it seems like a really great place to show off props and get advice on making them, especially since I have a lot of projects and I know this place'll come in handy for feedback.
I'm currently just getting into the more technical side of cosplay, making props, sewing costumes and the like, I've also been designated as the person people ask about things when I have no idea what I'm doing, so maybe I'll get an idea here.
I haven't made any props, or rather nothing significant enough to mention, though hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on a shield blank for Captain America soon enough, I'll also be making Mjolnir and plenty of other props within the next year.

That's all I have to say I suppose, but I'm really happy to be able to have joined.
