Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

hello everyone! I'm Ryan.. 33 yo living in Orlando, FL. I have always been interested and fascinated by movies and the backbone of the industry -- special effects. I have watch so many things from Jim Henson to ILM to Sam Winston and have been aw-struck by their work. So I have now for the past few years been wanting to emulate works and create my own. So this is me joining to learn, live, and laugh.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone!
I stumbled up the RPF while looking for some inspiration on designing an Iron Man costume (and what a perfect place to do so!). I'm not a costume maker by any means, but after seeing a very impressive MK3 build online about 2 years ago, I've had the itch to make one of my own, so I decided for Halloween 2013 I'm going to finally break down and do it. Definitely happy I found this place, I'm a long time fan of stuff like this, and the talent I see around here amazes me!
I work in automotive paint and body, and do alot of work with hot rods, restorations, custom projects, etc, so I hope I can bring some new innovation to the boards with my upcoming build (and something tells me this is going to become a new hobby of mine!)

I've begun printing out the pep's for an MK4 suit, and will be basing it in foam, but hopefully trying a few tricks I haven't seen here yet. If this goes well, I plan on doing a Dark Knight suit for my buddy, with a little added inspiration from the old Detective series of comics.

Looking forward to my stay here!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all,

I'm a n00b... I know several members here and have heard of the forum for years but hadn't joined because props aren't my strong suit. My art is mainly in textiles, but I really want to improve myself in the area of props. I do mainly Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Historical costumes and have loaded a few of my latest costumes to my gallery.

I have one long-term project I am working on right now, which is the chainmail gown of the White Witch in Narnia. I have spent a year on it so far and am about half done with the skirt. I am doing some Star Wars, Hunger Games, and other costumes this year, and will be getting my head cast this year in preperation for the 2014 season in which I intend on building a Mystique costume (clothed version, of course ;) )

Hello everyone! I've making costumes for the past three years and found this is the place to be to share my work. I love making things with my own two hands and getting my nerd on.

Hello all!

I'm a novice costumer but have dabbled it the art for years. Some of the work I have seen here so far is really fantastic. I'll keep reading, learning and asking questions. Thanks for hosting such a great site!

Personally I'm a former Navy officer and a pilot for AA. Obviously I travel a lot but I'm based in Miami Florida.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello!

I'm Anastasia, I'm 25 and live in England. I found this place about 10 hours ago and have already made a friend, found my 'first film accurate prop' with a lot of help from said friend. It will be a really simple project but as I'm afraid of drills and can't even put up a shelf (I'm learning!) I'm really excited to start somewhere and actually make something.
I originally found this place - and said friend - hunting for my next acquisition, which I hope will be a Supernatural angel blade.

I'm relatively new to props and so far my collection is a portal gun, a sonic screwdriver and would have been a magneto helmet but the purchase fell through. It is my goal to create a vast collection of weapons and gadgets from every sci-fi/fantasy/game fandom I adore.

Hello my people,
I'm Steve Rifenberick. My residence is in Chattanooga, TN. I like costuming and building my own props. I'm a member of 501st, Rebel Legion and Dark Empire. I've done 12 costumes so far. Started off making my own Halloween costumes years ago. Finishing up my Snake Eyes and starting on Judge Dredd. Hoping to meet some cool people here, getting ideas, and buying some awesome props (I either don't have the time to make or ability). Also, I hope to meet some of you at cons or charity events. I'm a staple at DragonCon since 2007. Some of my characters so far Darth Maul, Darth VOL, Jedi, The Vision, Muppets Waldorf, Snake Eyes, LOTR Gondorian soldier

Hi, I'm Alex from Germany!

I registered on this site because the thread concerning the white satin scorpion jacket from Drive was very helpful to me since it is the best resource on the web for people interested in the jacket, as it seems. I'm also just a movie geek who doesn't collect props or cosplays himself however I do love to admire the incredible work some people do in that field.
I also own a "The Wanderers" jacket and would like to start a collection of awesome jackets from awesome movies that I know, so I guess that is my main point of interest in this forum. :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Wotcha!

I'm Jon from the sunny city of Wolverhampton, England.

I've been airsofting for a good 10 years or more, also dabble in a bit of re-enactment when the mood takes me....I'm a Vietnam War collector/historian, and have an increasingly large pile of manky M56 canvas to prove it ;)

Joined RPF because I've a deep abiding love of the Colonial Marines in Aliens and their super awesome kit.....After many years of avoiding taking the plunge (due to mundane reasons like needing to buy food etc) I've finally managed to secure a set of Spatcave USCM armour...now I need to sort the helmet and I'll be a happy man :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Helloo, Im Eduardo from the south of Spain (Andalucia), Europe :) and I joined because this world of RPF is amazing, I just to do my first stormtrooper helmet and I think that this website will be helpful for my next project: a walking with dinossaurs

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey, I'm Jon from Boston, MA. I'm a puppeteer and puppet builder. I'm looking into broadening my portfolio and love the stuff here. I'm hoping to get a chance to build some gremlins for my self. I also want to try and make a Audrey II from Little shop.

You can see some of the puppets that I have built here. Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing

I also have some puppeteering videos here Little's Creatures - YouTube

I hope I can help the community with my knowledge and get some in return.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

My name is Dustin. I'm from just outside of Ft. Worth, TX. I don't have much experience in the prop or modeling area but I've always been fascinated by it. I've fabricated a myriad of pieces parts over the years for all sorts of stuff.

I'm hoping my first project will be a set of Warhammer 40k Space Marine armor for myself and a friend. I'm still debating on a full size, a man sized version, or somewhere between the two.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, I'm Irina from Austria, Europe.
I love cosplay and I have some experience with making latex facial implants for Seven of Nine from Star Trek.
My most recent passion is V for Vendetta and I find it really difficult to assemble a high quality V costume... I have already spotted a few helpful threads here tho :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello Members of rpf!!!

Newly gotten into props of movies and how the makings of them go about. Really interesting in starting out with a couple different idea for props that i want to build. Besides that I am an electrical engineering major (hopefully will make it easier with any circuits that I need to build)

Heard about this website from Tested.com and have been really addicted since I started surfing it.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi.
I'm Cristian from Chile.
I've always enjoyed seeing props and costumes of my favorite movies or videogames and after watching a video on Youtube I discovered there are simpler ways to make props (considering I don't have the kowledge, the tools or an addecuate place to work on them).
I decided to start with something simple (and not scale accurate) a few months ago. A .44 magnum revolver and a 10mm Pistol both using models from the new Fallout games.

It's been slow, but I'm learning to be patient so to make them look nice.
I'll make a post sometime during this semester showing my work.

I had to improvise on materials and tools, but I'm learning a lot.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,

I've always loved the idea of creating my own props, or getting ones that are similar enough. I'm a fan of Supernatural and Firefly (at least as far as props go). I also practice martial arts.
