I learn about this forum though a podcast and decide to join it because i was member of another forum which wasn't as friendly as this one seemed.

Hello! My name's Taylor, I'm 22 years old, and a cult classic and gothic romance buff. I have three reasons for joining this site. One was to see what kind of replicas are out there and the process of making/selling/buying them. The second is obviously to start collecting props for myself, particularly from films such as The Labyrinth, the Gerard Butler version of Phantom of the Opera, and the Princess Bride. The third is that my boyfriend is a huge Matrix fanatic and if I could get him any notable replica from one of the films, it would be the best thing ever. Any advice and guidence would be appreciated!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi guys, I stumbled onto this site by googling "Pepakura". I wanted to see what it was, and I was looking into building cool things out of paper.

I am 34 years old from Norway. I work as a musican and a software developer. Married with 2 1/2 kids and I have too many hobbies.

When I'm not brewing beer, taking pictures of my family, reading comics, collecting trading cards, making home movies with special effects, making demos in my homestudio, building guitars, drawing or painting. I spend my time with my family and enjoying life. So this pepakura thing looked cool, sort of like building your own 3d-puzzle with paper based on 3d computer models. That sparked my interest, and upon further investigating I found out that the paper is only one of several processes that will result in fairly accurate super-professional costumes/statues. Offcourse I understand that this requires a lot of skill, experience and tools. So I would love to start out with just building a paper helmet, and maybe some years down the line I might be able to build a passable wearable Iron Man (my favorite superhero) helmet.

Oh well, just wanted to introduce myself before I start diving into the well of information present at this forum.

Cheers! :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Somehow managed to miss this when I signed up, so sorry for the delayed introduction.
Anyhow was introduced to this site by a friend, who also happened to perk my interest into prop making. The basics about me, still in highschool, I like comic books, Doctor Who, and video games. Attempting to put together a post-apocalyptic soldier outfit for the motorcity comic-con, so any good tips or ideas on it would be much appreciated.

Hi all,

This place was just recommended to me. I'm shocked I hadn't come across it before. Looks great. I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of fun here.

I tend to be a bit of a mish-mash of construction skills. Not particularly good at any of them but enjoy woodwork, metal work, welding, electronics, programming.

To date, I've made a few replicas including a line of T-Virus vials from Resident Evil (aluminium and acrylic). I've got various projects that haven't seen much work for a while (the Ghostbusters Proton Packs for example) and some more in the pipeline (would love to make a semi working Aliens motion tracker using a Raspberry Pi and Arduino)

Oh, and I'm UK based

Hi All,

Have been a bit of a lurker and finally decided to join up. I've been collecting movie replicas, statues, busts etc for years. Mostly licenced pieces from companies like Sideshow, Weta, eFX and a few custom items. I've also got a number of original movies props as well which is what led me to this place.

Seems like this is a great bunch of like minded 'child-at-hearts' here and some very talented creative types as well. Looking forward to spending some time on the board.

Oh, and my wife will surely come to hate you all :unsure

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello.

I discovered this place about two years ago?? While researching Supernatural props, specifically the green Coleman cooler, this site came up and I've been lurking off and on since. Even though I'm not crafty and creative myself, I do have a great appreciation for films, movies, tv shows and all that goes in to making them happen. It's no wonder I'm fascinated with props and sets and stuff :) I don't know how I could contribute to a community that's already brimming over with knowledge and talent but I do hope that one day I'll be able to do more than just ogle at all the wonderful things all y'all are making.

Oh yeah. The name is Monica.. tuning in from Hawaii.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings all,

I've really only been looking over this forum for the last couple months, but it has been truly inspiring to see the body of work that this community does. I have begun (surprise, surprise) an iron man pepakura project for my first armor project.

I'm from the Houston, TX area and have a great deal of experience with stage makeup, and some with foam latex. My wife teaches art and hopefully I can get her to teach me more about sculpting someday.

My interests are all over the place but I think I most look forward to learning more about mold making and electronic work.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, my name is David. I'm a new member and I'm just getting started in my attempts to replicate props from my favorite films.

I'm absolutely amazed at the craftsmanship displayed by the members of this forum. I aspire to become as good.

This site is fantastic.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone!

My name is Niels and I stumbled upon this awesome community while googling and searching about pepakura. I've seen some of the fantastic creations being made out there and am actually hoping to do some of my own.
Mostly because I'm getting into cosplay and hope to go to this years DragonCon in my own creation, but also because I love working at crafts like this.

Hope to see more awesome things being made here and hope to be able to show and tell as well :lol

Hi Everyone,

My name is Pam. I'm a Graphic Designer by trade and I hobby in all types of "artsy" areas. I've been making costumes for years and watching this site but just recently joined. Currently I'm working on a Ninja Turtle that I hope is ready for the 2nd Annual Ottawa Comic Con. I look forward to participating in this forum and eventually showing off some of my work.
