Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **
My name is Karl. I am totally new to cosplay both wearing and building. I have always admired the well done pieces that I've seen and I guess just didn't have the know how to make anything to a standard I would require to actually wear. After thinking it would be neat to make some small paper Pokemon figures, I came across the Pepekura software. Thank goodness for that. I am very excited to see the once distant thought now in a realm of do-able. I'm just in the very early stages of my Iron Man MKIV/VI build. I am pulling out all stops. I want servo's, lights, and I'm taking my time right from the beginning. I'm not a fan of the foam look so I am using the paper design on 110lb cardstock. I'm starting at the helmet regardless of warning to not do so, and I will be putting up lots, and lots, and lots of pictures as I get them. I'm very excited to be a part of this community. Everyone's very helpful. I have watched / read start to finish at least 5 iron man suit builds and I think I'm fairly confident in my abilities to do this. I hope to be helpful to anyone else that's new here and give some recent newbie advice. (can be hard to help someone starting out when you've done/known something for a while)
I will start being helpful now.
I'm using 110lb card stock for my design and let me say that PRECISE cutting makes it go together SO easy. I'm also scoring all of my folds with a ruler and letter opener. Take your time now, anything you can fix in your current step, do so. It's going to be harder and harder... both difficulty and the materials used.
