Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello Folks

I'm Darryl but I'll use darkev2 here on this board. I'm into most things scifi but I have always had a thing for SciFi weapons. It started when my parents got me the Star Trek Exploratory Set when I was a kid and a blossomed when I hit the dealers room of the first major convention I went to years later (and to be honest many years ago).

I found this site in search of help on my newest "need to have" replica Captain Mal's Pistol from Firefly. From my limited search of this site I think I may have found a bit of the motherload of information and suggestions on this pistol.

Thanks

DarKev

Hello,

I'm Sen Tabesi, a french sabersmith ^^ I study all the things which are about lightsabers and try tu build a complete encyclopedia on them : L'atelier de Sen Tabesi

As most of the people are english-spoken, I try to translate much of their works in french for french people who are not familiar with english. I don't forget to quote people who do the work.

I'm insterested with Graflex which have a good look for lightsabers. My own lightsaber will be a double-bladed graflex-like one ^^

Hey guys, I'm Danielle.

I am a UK cosplayer, I have done numerous cosplays over the years.

I have various of interests, such as video games, movies, hanging with friends and loads more.

I speak a few languages such as a bit of japanese as I love anime and I learned from there, I speak a tiny bit of french and italian due to traveling there and back.

I love reading, I am about to get the kindle fire due to boredom in work a lot and cannot carry tons of books with me.

Hey everyone, I'm Randy. I'm working on a Spiderman Suit, and have been lurking on here for a while. Figured I'd join and ask some questions. :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi! Bruno is my name as you can see and I'm from Sweden so sorry if my english isn't perfect

Superheroes have always been "my thing".. I have a couple of friends that kinda like these kinds of things but they stop at watching the movies, but I take it a couple of steps further. Lots of Superman t-shirts, various superhero Halloween costumes and so on. But this isn't enough anymore. My next goal in life is to build an Iron Man suit/armor.

Have A LOT of experience in fibreglass, bondo and plastic (lot of car repairs and modifications) and I hope that my knowledge is enough.

Hope to get a lot of help and tips from here (already have inspiration from the builds i've seen here)

So, that's from me, hope to start a build thread here soon

Hello, I'm painfully new to forums but I am extremely fond of films and the props that make them what they are. A little background... I went to school for digital filmmaking but found that I'm more interested in the "monster making" so to speak. I hope to learn a lot from all of the incredibly talented people on this site. Everything that I've seen so far has been truly amazing

Hey folks, been a member for ages, but have been reading the forums and following the builds rather than making anything myself. I'm interested mostly in practical effects, and the practical prop edge of things. I've about a decade's worth of amateur Halloween haunt prop and effects creation, but haven't concentrated on a single movie prop yet. I use the RPF for inspiration and technical research.

Hello, I'm a professional illustrator who dabbles in some sculpture as well. Like I assume most of you here, I can't find or afford most of the collectibles I really want, so I am interested in learning how to make my own.

Hey guys.
I'm Josh from Louisiana. I'm married with a daughter who is a year old, I'm a toy photographer, and am currently in the process of building a shadowtrooper costume.

Yo, I'm Selene. I'm a cosplayer and hope to be a prop maker soon. I'm here to help my cosplay friend find what they need to make props or armor

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey. I'm Cross from America. I've always been interested in props, but never really thought about making them until I wanted a knife from The Book of Eli. A few Google searches lead me here, and after only about a half an hour of surfing, I was using a pattern made by a member to cut out a cardboard version of the knife. I dabble in photography and am currently trying to develop a video game using the software FPSCreator.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

My name is Karl. I am totally new to cosplay both wearing and building. I have always admired the well done pieces that I've seen and I guess just didn't have the know how to make anything to a standard I would require to actually wear. After thinking it would be neat to make some small paper Pokemon figures, I came across the Pepekura software. Thank goodness for that. I am very excited to see the once distant thought now in a realm of do-able. I'm just in the very early stages of my Iron Man MKIV/VI build. I am pulling out all stops. I want servo's, lights, and I'm taking my time right from the beginning. I'm not a fan of the foam look so I am using the paper design on 110lb cardstock. I'm starting at the helmet regardless of warning to not do so, and I will be putting up lots, and lots, and lots of pictures as I get them. I'm very excited to be a part of this community. Everyone's very helpful. I have watched / read start to finish at least 5 iron man suit builds and I think I'm fairly confident in my abilities to do this. I hope to be helpful to anyone else that's new here and give some recent newbie advice. (can be hard to help someone starting out when you've done/known something for a while)

I will start being helpful now.

I'm using 110lb card stock for my design and let me say that PRECISE cutting makes it go together SO easy. I'm also scoring all of my folds with a ruler and letter opener. Take your time now, anything you can fix in your current step, do so. It's going to be harder and harder... both difficulty and the materials used.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi!

Looks like I have forgotten to post here... :lol
Please excuse this.

Living in Nuremberg/Germany I build costumes since nearly 30 years (yes real!)

I begin with easy mediaval costumes, the next were first Star Wars and Fantasy costumes and at the last 10 years I come to my next level.
With the first Lord of the Rings movie I was infected with the costumes of the triology.
Some costumes from this movies are now in my Stock.
For example a rohirric armor, an ithilan ranger, a haradrim and a Nazgul.

From Star Wars the last costume I made were:
A X-Wing-Pilot, a Sith-Lady and the newest is a Mandalorian Armor

With the production of the Hobbit a new costume-infect caught me...Now Fili the Dwarf is my newest project I'm working on.

You can find pictures from it in my thread about.

My special skills in costuming are textile- and leatherworks and since the Mando also forging Aluminium.

If you have questions don't hesitate to ask.

"Fili, at your service" :lol

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Newbie from Fayetteville,Ga here.

I heard about the forum on the Adam Savage Project. My wife is a theatre props designer and I help her out from time to time, so I thought this would be a great way to get some new ideas for her.

Greetings to all!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everybody @ the RPF,

I'm a StarWars fan from France with a Jedi Costume and I try myself in building my own lightsaber, and my Jedi props.

I hope learn here and increase my working in the first time, and after, when my works were fine, just share them by posting my tutos.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi

Am new here, have been mostly lurking for a few months. My main collection have been 1/6 and 1/4 scale, but am interested in 1/1 scale now, mainly Nolan Batman stuffs. :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all,

seems like i forgot to introduce myself, kind of got carried away with some of the builds i have ongoing (having a 6 year old doesn't help at times), I'm Mark and i hail from good old Wigan, currently splitting my time between a full Boba Fett project, various 40k projects and a HEV suit, all work in progress at the minute.

Hey! I'm Trevor from Canada, and I've been lurking for a few weeks but just need to dive in even though I don't have much on the go beyond research & development right now. I'm building an Enterprise D bridge playset with my 3 & 5 year old sorta-stepkids and am gearing up for a proper grown-up build. Love what I see here-- too much passion for me to not wade in. :)

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Trevor
